| HarrO (Florida) | Posted: Oct 24, 2008 - 10:31 Had to stop right in the middle of painting the living room to find out who this is. Very cool, shades of Dan Hicks here. I like it a lot!!!! 9 |
| rtrudeau (Bay Area, California) | Posted: Oct 24, 2008 - 10:28 Nope, the female singer has not improved since the last time I rated this song. This is truly terrible. |

"Havalina" is a long way from "javelina"...they were referring to the Pixies. As of May 2005, the group is no more. Edit: one of the band members has formed a new group Matt Death and The New Intellectuals. Decent tune. Cake? Hmm. I don't get it, but ok.
Any-wise, a curious band. Downrated. A pretty good tune. |

Where's my havalina? Right! But spelled javelina. See Roverfish below for details. Nonetheless, major points for this band. |

| ThePoose | Posted: Mar 06, 2007 - 13:26 Guitarist Matt Wignall's got a Marc Ribot thing happenin'. Listen to Marc round out various Tom Waits LPs, such as Rain Dogs. |

For those in the rest of the world outside of Texas, Havalinas are these wild boars that roam West Texas. The only ones I have actually seen in their natural environment were at Big Bend National Park. A beautiful spot in the desert. You learn something new every day. Thanks for the clarification! I have always wondered since I heard "Havalina" with the Pixies way back, I could not figure out what the title meant. I thought it was bird or even areoplane of sorts ("among the trees, havalina"), I must have confused it with something else... But I digress. Good song! :) |
