| k8ling1114 (Puget Sound, Washington) | Posted: Jan 24, 2013 - 16:05 I tuned out until the Blind Boys of Alabama started up.... then tuned out again when they stopped. I love Sky Blue, but what is this? |
| Nadita (Zürich, Switzerland) | Posted: Nov 22, 2012 - 23:39 There is a PSD Button, use it. I do not like this song, even though I love Peter Gabriels Work. This one reminds me of Söhne Mannheims - Xavier Naidoo - in particular. A German Singer/Songwriter and Band who is constantly trying to bring People to God with his Songs. I cant stand it. And I wish there was a PSD Button when ever I hear him coming on somewhere. moxieandmore wrote: Could be used to torture. Really, I confess. Stop. Playing. This. Crap. |

| drumflight | Posted: Mar 02, 2012 - 06:23 Where is the vote for 11??? One of the most haunting pieces of music ever written. I get chills every time I hear it and to have it pop up randomly on someone else's playlist is amazing Thank you! |

| kurtster (Back in Ohiya, for now ...) | Posted: Dec 11, 2011 - 03:43 Not familiar with the movie, so without knowing the context, this is ok. Not a song that I would put on a playlist to hear on a regular basis. |
| vorko (Midwestern Hell, MN) | Posted: Nov 09, 2011 - 10:43 I really love Peter's instrumentals, and this is no exception. I can understand why it would be a very acquired taste, though. |
| whiskofclarity | Posted: Nov 09, 2011 - 10:42 Without all the "ohs," this would be great. As is, blah. |

I much prefer "Sky Blue," in that song the chorus actually becomes climactic and is really wonderful, instead of repetitive. Sky Blue is a really really great song, if you haven't had a listen. |
| actusreus | Posted: Sep 07, 2011 - 12:11 its the song that never ends, it goes on and on, my friends.... |
| edatwork | Posted: Sep 07, 2011 - 12:11 Has a similar annoying-ness to the Atlanta Braves fans chanting with their tomahawk chops. Way too repetitive for my taste. |

However, when anyone recycles a piece of music, I find it cheapens the work. I guess that because of the age we live in, you could just call it "sampling" and that makes it okay. It doesn't mean that I have to like it. We live in an time of artistic recycling, from movies to music and I really don't think that it has helped evolve any art form. All forms of "Art" are based on something which preceded them but perhaps things like sampling in music are more direct about it. Art forms are always in a process of evolution. I understand your issues with the idea of "recycling", though - especially in movies. There is never really anything completely "new", however. |

| Rob_S (Lancaster, PA) | Posted: Aug 25, 2011 - 10:56 This needs to be heard in the context of the movie Rabbit-Proof Fence, where its sad and yearning mood is an excellent fit. |

Well, the back cover lists it as "Ngankarrparni - Sky Blue reprise" (even though the "Long Walk Home" soundtrack came out before the album "Up"). I guess it just uses same Blind Boys & Peter vocals. |

True enough, but I'm not sure the music can hold its own outside the film. It doesn't really mean a lot without the context. IMO, naturally. |

| vit | Posted: Apr 06, 2010 - 09:53 Hey this isn't so bad. Consider it an instrumental and it isn't all that repetitive. It's not nearly as over-dramatic as "I Heave" or any of the junk from last temptation. It works good in the headphones. It has a little Massive Attack to it and just a tiny hint of Atom Heart Mother to me anyway. |
