Hahaha! Hilariously well put. I never could decipher the lyrics to this song, nor cared to. I love Pearl Jam, but this is my least favorite song of theirs. It's like Eddy's channeling early Michael Stipe.

I do not profess to get PJ's music, though I really like this song. Two days in a row that I've posted positive PJ comments! Maybe I'm finally getting it...

This song is all about Mike McC and his wicked guitar skills. That's why a mumbling Ed is insignificant; it's sweet music. Check out the many live versions of this song on official bootlegs. Extra tags, singing crowds, and wicked solos. Worth the price of a PJ ticket just to hear this song live.

We saw PJ in Vancouver on the Backspacer tour and Eddie really ragged on Seattle fans. I was kind of surprised. They played Seattle a few nights later and by the accounts I read it was a great show with adoring fans doing their part. The show I saw was great too. They're full value, imo.

Maybe Ed's remarks were meant in jest, but it didn't come across that way.

When all this grunge music came out I thought everyone was trying to channel Smells Like Teen Spirit. But when I heard Vedder's Into The Wild soundtrack, I realized he's a natural talent with so, so much depth.

I went to school with a guy named Ledbetter.  He wasn't yellow, though—more of a dark brown, actually.

And he goes flat a couple of times. Except for McCready's guitar, what was the reason for releasing this version?

They close the vast majority of their concerts with this gem.  When it breaks down to just McCready on guitar it allows the other fellow to put down their instruments and chill out for a while before they take their final bow.

Great song.  I finally saw them live for the first time about two years ago.  And even though I've always believed that EV is a bit of a knob, I have to admit that they put on an amazing show.  And more than any other mega-band in recent history that I can think of, they are incredibly connected to their fans.  Very cool stuff.
All that having been said, there's not much in the world funnier than this interpretation of the song:

I was waiting for the judges to vote him out, although I thought he was awesome. Much more articulate and understandable than Vedder himself.  SO - what happened to this poor soul? I'd have voted for him - LOTS of talent, and probably could have his own career, not imitating Eddie Vedder or anyone else...

Thanks for sharing this link, a2. I love Eddie Vedder's music, but that misheard lyrics YouTube always makes me laugh until I cry.
