For a brief moment I thought this was "Across the Universe."  Nice song, very mellow.

I like this! Sounds like a mix between John Lennon's voice and James' voice. Good combination.

Funny, since in other songs his voice sounds so much like Jakob Dylan.

Really like this song; would love it if RP added Teardrop and Jupiter from this album to the play list.

So, is he trying to make his guitar sound like his voice or vice versa?

I now have a good read into your comments and ratings.  To each his own, I guess.  Hard to believe.... but....

This is the song that the other one on the RP playlist sounds like by some other group, which of course I forgot!  :)       This one much better...

So: who does Bill like better, GLB/P or PT? If you don't know what I'm talking about, Wecome to RP. {#Tongue}

I fully agree!  Love this song.  I saw Grant Lee Phillips perform a couple years ago in Solana Beach - AWESOME set!  (Especially "Mockingbirds").  Met him after the show - very sweet guy.

Grant Lee Buffalo = Grant Lee Phillips' band in the '90s.

<shrug> The guy, to me, sounds like John Lennon, and as I've never liked John Lennon's work, that makes me reach for the mute button. I'm not sure how many "levels" there are in that opinion.

It's a sad day when, like today, I'm hitting the mute button on RP more often than not. Ah-ha - the Charlatans are on next, which will get me bopping in my chair. TFFT!

Brings back a lot of good memories for me. Learned about GLB just after moving to Caliornia and was one of the first new CDs I bought when I got here way back in (gasp) 1993.

Grant Lee was one of the "Special Guests" at Aimee Mann's Christmas concert here in LA on Dec 9th. He helped out on a few traditional Christmas songs, but the real treat was when he & Aimee's band performed "Truly, Truly", which he noted Grant Lee Buffalo had performed "10 years earlier, under this very roof". Excellent way to start the night. I ended the evening in even better fashion, proposing to my lovely girlfriend.
