Elvis-related quotes from Paul Simon:

-Once I went all over N.Y. looking for a lavender shirt like the one he wore on one of his albums.

-I had picked up the guitar because I wanted to be like Elvis Presley.

-I felt wonderful when he sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water", even though it was a touch on the dramatic side, but so was the song.

Hey, it is one of the 3 or 4 Elvis songs I like!{#Dancingbanana}He was alright for a white boy, but he is no Chuck Berry, the true King of Rock and Roll.{#No}

I dunno...  For all that Elvis represented and represents for those who grew up with this, the sound is much too 50s shlock for me. Especially the background chorus. You can't please everyone and I have stopped pretending that I like Elvis. Sorry

He'll always be everyone's Teddy Bear. Well, maybe not—there were times he wasn't quite lovable or musically pleasing—but this is a great song.

Much credit for this goes to this man:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Porter_(sound_engineer)

(Porter also did all the old Roy Orbison hits, as well as many others.)

Getting consistently good results wasn't easy in those days, and before it went on to the mastering lab, all of Porter's stuff had amazing sound quality (and some of it is now being properly re-mastered).

...Just thought I'd give the man his props.

Let's face the truthful facts folks. If you do not like Elvis Presley's early material (like this example) you do not have any appreciation of popular music, or alone the eclectic collection of music that this station provides.

Hearing this come around again I had a flashback to 1960 (I think) and I took my lovely April (of the Red Hair and million Angel Kisses Freckles) to see Elvis in concert. My old 1950 Kaiser Traveller sedan with the Continental Red Seal straight six engine and three-on-the-tree gear shift. Afterwards, sitting in the car with April next to me, I licked her tears from her face and gently hugged her .. knowing full well that her closed eyes were seeing Elvis.

But that was OK with me, I loved her and she loved me and everything was just all right.

Amusing, because it is so campy. I like Elvis at times, but this one is more for humor than musical appreciation.
