How would you know, you've skewed your Brain listening to too much Tom Petty. He's really not that good you know.

you will not be disappointed - i even ended up going back to pick up a copy of "Yield" as well, after i got this one. listened to both of them virtually non-stop for several weeks, and they are still in pretty high rotation now.

excellent stuff. the band has only gotten better with age. looking forward to many more great albums from PJ in the future.

Kinda strange how a 2 is 'marginal'. According to my dictionary, 'marginal' is "just barely adequate or within a lower limit", while 2 out of 10 (20%) definitely is not. Nor is this song.

I totally disagree with this post!

It was GREAT to find the lyrics here and to be able to
read EVERY WORD along with the vocals. Kinda like closed-

Actually, a lyrics area would be a welcome addition to rp...Edited By bluedot at 12:54 am on 7/03/2003

Thanks mperry. I must admit it was the music which grabbed me mostly. Well, in fact it's what always draws my attention first. But you made me have a closer listen to the lyrics, which, indeed, added something extra.

I could go on about vocal technique, in fact I have been known to go on about enunciation. But the distinctive froggyness of Vedder's voice ("thick with emotion"?)
I consider a part of his individual charm.Like those lynx-like eyes(Finnish grandmother? Mongol genes ?)

Too bad; it's in a middle of a very witty nautical-themed set.

The more Pearl Jam I hear here at RP the more of a fan of this band I become.

Would love to have a chance to discuss with Eddie Vedder "the love which is the only thing he can believe in" and it's relationship to his essential buddha nature .

Pearl Jam has performed in benefit of Tibetan causes haven't they ?

I'm glad when people post the lyrics on the "Song Comment" message board that is about the song, about the music. I guess a lot of space could be saved if the "Song Comment" feature were eliminated, and the "Comments" section as well. :???:

It is very easy for you to pass any comments by. But much more of a hassle to have to click a link to go to another site and then come back.

Bandwidth concern is noble, but a rather dated concern. I asked Bill about bandwidth issues and he indicated that those issues are now well in hand; a minor, even non-, issue. Your apology is accepted. ;) Please drive carefully. Void where prohibited. Not accepted in all states.Edited By mperry at 4:10 pm on 5/15/2003

Love Boat Captain
Time: 4:36
Vedder, Gossard

Is this just another day? This god forgotten place.
First comes love and then comes pain. Let the games begin.
Questions rise and answers fall insurmountable.

Love boat captain take the reigns and steer us towards the clear. Here.
It's already been sung but it can't be said enough.
All you need is love.

Is this just another phase? Earthquakes making waves.
Trying to shake the cancer off. Stupid human beings.
Once you hold the hand of love it's all surmountable.

Hold me and make it the truth.
That when all is lost there will be you.
Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing.
And there's just one word I still believe.
And it's love.

It's an art to live with pain. Mix the light into grey.
Lost nine friends we'll never know. Two years ago today.
And if our lives became too long would it add to our regret?

And the young they can lose hope cause they can't see beyond today.
The wisdom that the old can't give away.
Hey, constant recoil. Sometimes life don't leave you alone.

Hold me and make it the truth.
That when all is lost there will be you.
Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing.
And there's just one word that I still believe and it's love.
Love. love. love. love.

Love boat captain take the reigns. Steer us towards the clear.
I know it's already been sung. Can't be said enough.
Love is all you need. All you need is love.
Love. Love. Love.

Agreed, the lyrics are well written, but the music should be likewise moving and this just isn't.
