This version sounds like something The Rock-afire Explosion would play.

Not nearly the best Cash recording of this song.

A truly great song. I'm probably going to catch some flack for this comment and, if it had some deeper meaning for me i probably wouldn't say this but let's be honest here, it's become something of a novelty over the years, considering that in it's day it was a modest hit peaking at 17 on the pop charts (1 on the country). I think of it as one of those songs that people love to love. It's sort of dark and silly at the same time. The Russians have an expression for this; I can't pronounce it because the words sound like pigs having sex but the loose translation is, "guilty pleasure."

Social Distortion's version is the best one out there, IMHO, but I think Frank Zappa's rendition is pretty damn good too{#Laughing}

Good song, but this arrangement sounds a little Las Vegasy. Isn't there a "grittier" version? I am sure I have heard another version as the "original."

On a very personal level, there is only one other musical work that is as profound as "Ring of Fire" for me, and it is "L'Enfant" by Vangelis...

in other words, this song is one of the two most profound experiences for me in all of infinity...

I love this song...

  SD really did tear into this one: as covers go it is one of the best. Johnny's version has much more of June's influence.
