![]() Hail to the Thief (2003) [ larger cover art ] |
I sucked the moon
I spoke too soon
And how much did it cost?
I was dropped from
Moonbeams
And sailed on shooting stars
Maybe you'll
Be president
But know right from wrong
Or in the flood
You'll build an Ark
And sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon

Wonderful lyrics but more importantly the mood, the feel, the emotion. He's a freaking genious musician IMHO. Yup. And Thom is one helluva great guitar player too! Something I didn't realize until I saw them live. I always assumed Jonny and Ed were doing all the heavy lifting.

Unfortunately, I've heard a cat being strangled, and it's nothing like this. There is NO sound that can be compared to the sound of a cat being strangled. Just stop using this as a metaphor. It's horribly offensive. I prefer "A very bad violinist."

Why should I be frightened of dying — there's no reason for it... When I was in college taking calculus 1, a girl in the front row asked the teacher if she had to take the final (she was great in class and the final was optional). The teacher looked her straight in the eye and said " The only thing you have to do is die". She didn't get it. I fell out of my seat with laughter! I think a more rational response would be that you would be frightened as you are dying, especially if you are in a car accident, in a fire, being eaten by a shark or a mountain lion. That's worth being frightened and quite reasonable.

Some here would pick apart a bright sunny day in April because it's too bright, too breezy and they don't like the UV exposure. To each their own, I guess. Personally, I like being musically caught in the rain now and then. Helps cleanse the cultural palate and exposes me to new thoughts and emotions. And Bill, Radiohead - Sail To The Moon into God is an Astronaut - A Deafening Distance was an excellent old-school progressive radio-type segue. Thanks!
| dynamaniak (Ottawa Ontario Canada) | Posted: Apr 10, 2008 - 08:13 Hauntingly beautiful.... I can understand not being in the mood for something like this if you are not a die-hard Radiohead fan and unfamiliar with it, but music is emotional and perhaps one day, if you were experiencing the emotion are trying to express in this song, you'd relate to it and enjoy it better - as with all music. There is a time and a place for everything. I enjoy the emotional diversity of this station... | ||||||||||||
