You don't like the sound of the truth
Comin' from my mouth
You say that I lack the proof
Well baby there might be some
I'm gonna get to the end of my life
Find out everyone was lying
I dont think that I'm afraid anymore
Say that I would rather die trying
Chorus
Whoa, swing me way down south
Sing me something brave from your mouth
And I'll bring you pearls of water on my hips
And the love in my lips
All the love from my lips
This time when he swung the bat
and i found my self laying flat
I wonder
What a way to spend a dime
what a way to use the time
Aint it baby?
I looked at my reflection
in the window walking past and I saw a stranger
Just so scared all the time
It makes me one more reason why
the world's dangerous
Chorus
(Music Solos)
You don't like the sound of the truth
coming from my mouth
You say that I lack the proof
Baby there might be some
Tell me what's wrong with having a little faith
In what your feeling in your heart
Why must we be so afraid
and always so far apart?
Chorus

| randyblew (Raleigh, NC) | Posted: Apr 23, 2013 - 06:23 Bravo! The Dixie Chicks are fantastic, talented, interesting people and artists. The album Taking the Long Way, produced by Rick Rubin, is wonderful stuff. I also recommend watching the doc Shut up and Sing, about their travails during the Iraq war. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of country music, but they have my praise. |

They, along with Natalie Maines, make up the Dixie Chicks. The sisters decided to record a side project under a different name. Court Yard Hounds, featuring Robison for the first time as lead vocalist released a debut album for Columbia Records, the same label for which the Dixie Chicks has recorded, on May 4, 2010. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart, initially selling 61,000 copies. It has sold approximately 825,000 copies in the United States. Cool - thanks for the info. |

Now that I've heard it, I can make the educated statement that I much prefer the original. I'm not really sure why the Dixie Chicks are so famous and successful when Patty Griffin is competing in the same market. Then again, perhaps it's not the same market at all... It's the way Patty wants it.....she is a world known singer/songwriter with none of the crap that goes with being a superstar in this crazy world. She has a HUGE worldwide following and yet can roam the streets of Austin (with hubby Mr Plant) and not be harassed. |

| curtkare | Posted: Oct 12, 2006 - 21:24 It never really occurred to me to give the Chicks a listen until the whole "same state as George Bush" thing blew up. It appears the Chicks haven't come across the RP stream for quite some time now. I got ahold of Wide Open Spaces and Home recently. Spaces was nice - it's supposed to be mainstream, accessible, etc. and it is. I gave it a listen, and set it aside. Home has captured my imagination - it's got purity and musical virtuosity - likely due to the band's wish to chuck commercial and do their own thing. I still get all verklempt at "Travelin' Soldier". "A Home" is a beautiful as anything on kd lang's Ingenue. No the ideas expressed aren't super sophisticated - it's COUNTRY after all, but I gotta say, I really dig the Chicks on this one. |

| 9-volt (Asheville, NC) | Posted: Jul 18, 2003 - 08:21 not a fan of the chicks, but i applaud them for speaking there mind. the fact that mega-corporate radio media banned them from hundreds of radio stations sends a scary message to people: don't dis dubya or we will hurt your business.
