Speaking of which, I heard a traditional bluegrass song the other day that replaced the banjo with a sitar.  It worked really well.  Of course, I'm a sucker for anything with a sitar.

Nothing against Japan but this is right up there with "Mr. Roboto" as one of all my all LEAST favorite things to listen to.  My earholes are cringing.  My senses reeling.  My stomach turning.  And I don't mean that in a good way.

Has anyone copied the various sound tracks from the old CD game "Silent Thunder"?  There are some very similar tracks therein.  The game itself is sort of sucky, but the music tracks (like those on "Commanche" and "Rednecks Revenge" are worth playing and including in any catalog.

From Wikipedia:
" The shamisens of professional players are often taut in cat skin, as it is more delicate and expensive. It is said that the best sound quality is produced from a shamisen bound in cat skin. In the past a special type of paper was used and recently various types of plastics are being tried. On the skin of some of the best shamisen, the position of the cat's nipples can still be seen.<2>"

Interesting eastern tonal elements laid on a western progression and base. Nice bits here and there but not sure it works for me as a whole.

I like that you say "yet"! It was a "5" for me when I first heard it. Up to a "7" today, and I may not be done yet! I like it when songs grow on you!

I find that I rarely take a song down from my initial rating (generally if I dislike it strongly that feeling holds firm), but very often — with songs that on first listen are generally likeable — either my taste or the feel of a particular song will develop over time and my rating goes up accordingly. Not always...but this one has potential!
