I have slept beside the winter and the green is growing slow
I have watched you find the places hidden by the snow
I have tripped into a valley that is blue till you can see
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
I'm not touched but I'm aching to be
I want you to come walk this world with me
And I'm sucked in by the wonder and I'm fucked up by the lies
And I dig a hole to climb in and I build some wings to fly
And I think that I could love you 'cause you know how to be free
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
I'm not touched but I'm aching to be
I want you to come, I want you to come
I want you to come walk this world with me
And it's burning in our fingers and it's burning on the road
And I like the way you're broken and I'll like you when you old
And I see you in the garden and I feel you plant the seeds
I want you to come walk this world with me
(CHORUS)
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
Holding on and on 'til we believe
With the light in our eyes it's hard to see
I'm not touched but I'm aching to be
I want you to come, I want you to come
I want you to come walk this world with me
| Fumbling (Cambridge, UK) | Posted: Mar 17, 2013 - 12:03 Heather is fantastic live, too. |
| GarageDragon | Posted: Dec 13, 2012 - 10:22 Is this song really naughty, or am I just a perv? |
| itaish (Berkeley, CA) | Posted: Oct 11, 2012 - 17:06 This song is so 90's. She sounds as if she's working really hard to sing accurately (which she doesn't) and that is a bit annoying to my ears. Anyways it's a 7 for me since I really liked this song once. |
| RadioFlyer219 | Posted: Jun 25, 2011 - 13:47 One of the very FEW that rate a "10" from me. I LOVE Heather Nova! |
| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: May 24, 2011 - 22:21 I like it instantly. I had heard of Heather Nova but not really properly listened until this station turned me on to the beautiful album The Jasmine Flower. Probably time I explored more of her cattle dog. Also I have to say romeotuma that there are many ways in which it could be suggested that the video you posted has very little to do with the music and is just an opportunity to stare at lingerie models for a few minutes...not that i'm complaining at having giving it a go. |
| (former member) (hotel in Las Vegas) | Posted: Apr 23, 2011 - 09:04 Just hit the mute button on the video and watch it while Heather's song plays... perfect fit... |
| DD rabbi_phil (beach) | Posted: Mar 22, 2011 - 20:00 " I'm sucked in by the wonder and I'm fucked up by the lies" . That's just killer. |

Yeah, the double entendres pretty much bowl you over, and I won't deny the obvious - that Heather was being deliberately provocative - but the power of the melody, and the palpable elation of embarking on a spiritual expedition on the Silk Road with someone who ignites your senses, are intoxicating! ![]() I don't get too distracted by the "risqué" lyrics... obviously, she was having some fun with this... when you write your own songs, and they're good, you're entitled to some slack - it's called "poetic license"! But there is some deeper stuff here, too: And I'm sucked in by the wonder and I'm fucked up by the lies And I dig a hole to lie in and I build some wings to fly And I think that I could love you 'cause you know how to be free I want you to come walk this world with me. It's a fubar world, hopelessly distorted by lies. I suppose it has probably always been that way. If you toss out the baby with the bath water, you miss that part of what she is saying... especially the part about "I'm sucked in by the wonder and... I build some wings to fly". But you're right... "to each his/her own"... |
| Giselle62 (many bear, big rock, estuary California) | Posted: Sep 14, 2010 - 13:44 It was a little embarrassing to have this on loud in the coffeeshop with some sweet elderly people by me—-cuz it was so sexual; but they didn't seem to mind. No biggie, I guess. |

| grungepuppy (Flagstaff, AZ) | Posted: Aug 13, 2010 - 13:11 I've been a big fan of Heather for years. This is the song that got it all started for me. The entire album is great. I got to see her live in the late 1990's at a small club in Scottsdale. Very good show. It's too bad she hasn't toured the U.S. in over a decade. |
| ziakut (Chicago, IL) | Posted: Aug 13, 2010 - 13:06 She may be demanding...but I'd help her out. I'd walk this world too. :) |
| coolpeople_rule (Winter wonder land) | Posted: Aug 13, 2010 - 13:05 I hope she comes as well. |
| soulcollision (Vancouver, BC) | Posted: Aug 13, 2010 - 13:03 hands down favorite Heather Nova song |

Once during the time when this was being overplayed on the alt-whatever station, after it ended the (female) dj said with a smirk you could hear over the waves, "Demanding, isn't she?" Just the way she said it cracked me up. |

| casey1024 (Connecticut) | Posted: Sep 10, 2008 - 06:25 I hadn't heard this before. Something about her voice reminds me of Edie Brickell. |
| stewliscious (northGA) | Posted: Sep 10, 2008 - 06:25 Also find it ironic that she wants you to come but her last name is "Nova". No va = "it doesn't go". So they would come to walk this world with her but when they got there they would find that she couldn't go. I would be pissed if it were me. |

| oheb (Munich, Germany) | Posted: May 07, 2008 - 02:49 RP should play more of her live tracks. Vastly superior to the overproduced studio albums. I blame her usual producer (which is also her husband - duh!) for overproducing her albums. Her 2003 release "Storm" was a return to form, after stints of poppy attemps. And that album was a collaboration with the fellows of Mercury Rev, and shows clearly that with proper guidance, she's absolutely great. The live albums ('Live from the Milky Way', 'Blow' and to a lesser measure "Wonderlust") show her true talent, without the interference of her husband - er, producer. My personal favorite is "Live from the Milky Way", which is absolutely brilliant, albeit a bit short (it's an EP with only 6 tracks - but all brilliant). That's the only album I ever ran to the store to buy after hearing it on the radio (college radio, of course). Saw her live for the 'Oyster' tour in a very small club and that was amazing. Got to see her a couple more times after that ('Siren' and 'Red Bird' tours) and that wasn't as brilliant. The sheer energy of her old tracks when played live was just amazing ("Throwing Fire at the Sun" comes to mind)... Unfortunately, she's been overproduced and underrated (causality anyone?) in the last years... |
| kaz (click 'Support RP' above + cough up something!) | Posted: Apr 11, 2008 - 00:30 Anyone have live Heather shows to trade? I have about 30 at (click here), would like to hear some recent stuff after her baby break... |
