One of the first things one learns when taking singing lessons is to pretend your mouth is full of bees... or like your biting an apple you're quite perceptive... at least now we know you're listening. However... we also know you have no knowledge of music.

There are no lyrics to Yellow Ledbetter, the song is sang from the heart... as are all of his songs, the band makes the songs recognizeable and Eddie makes the songs infanate.... 20 years from now... noone will know the lyrics to Yellow Ledbetter but it will be a song that everyone will know and will sing along with.

Vedder tries to sing a song. Maybe if he begged, Stephen Stills would teach him how to write.

At least it's followed by a Beatles song I've not heard before, "One After 909".

Fun Fact: Entertainment Law!

As the owner of publishing rights to a song, one holds the copyright. A copyright is something obtained once a piece of art is secured in a tangible form (i.e. song lyrics scribbled on a diner napkin). In order to challenge any breech of copyright, the the holder must first register the work with the US government.
Any time the copywritten material is further published (as sheet music) or covered by another artist (Eddie Vedder) a fee must be paid to the copyright owner. In the latter instance a standard fee is set by the Harry Fox agency (8.5 cents per copy of the work sold) to be collected and distributed to the copyright owner. Anyone can perform a cover of any song, but the copyright owner will receive a portion of profits from it's sale, as noted above.

I've only recently come to appreciate some of Pearl Jam's stuff...this song makes me reconsider. I know it's Vedder by himself, so I won't judge the band by this.

This song makes me want to strangle myself.

I wouldn't say this cover is better than the original, nor is it one of Vedder's better covers, but it's quite good. Then again, I think Eddie does a pretty good job at covers in general. Maybe it's just generational...Ten was one of the first CD's I ever owned.

Great song from a reasonable sountrack to an awful movie.

when this came out I took a while to listen to it back-to-back with the original. it's very similar, but much heavier and darker than the original, both with Vedder's voice and a bassier guitar sound. I think he adds his own phrasing and emphasis, and while I like the subtle lightness of the original better, I think this is a worthwhile cover.
