I will try not to breathe
I can hold my head still with my hands at my knees
These eyes are the eyes of the old
Shiver in the cold
I will try not to breathe
This decision is mine
I have lived a full life
And these are the eyes that I want you to remember
Oh, I need something to fly over my grave again
I need something to breathe
I will try not to burden you
I can hold these inside
I will hold my breath until all these shivers subside
Just look in my eyes
I will try not to worry you
I have seen things that you will never see
Leave it to memory me
I shudder to breathe
I want you to remember, oh ''(You will never see)''
I need something to fly ''(Something to fly)''
Over my grave again ''(You will never see)''
I need something to breathe ''(Something to breathe)''
Baby don't shiver now
Why do you shiver now? ''(I will see things you will never see)''
I need something to fly ''(Something to fly)''
Over my grave again ''(I will see things you will never see)''
I need something to breathe
Oh, I will try not to worry you
I have seen things you will never see
Leave it to memory me
Don't dare me to breathe
I want you to remember, oh ''(You will never see)''
I need something to fly ''(Something to fly)''
Over my grave again ''(You will never see)''
I need something to breathe ''(Something to breathe)''
Baby don't shiver now
Why do you shiver now? ''(I will see things you will never see)
I need something to breathe ''(Something to breathe)''
''(I have seen things you will never see)'' I want you to remember

For me, Automatic was half good and half too much like what was to follow with "New Adventures in Hi-fi" and onward. The half I loved included this song, "Monty Got A Raw Deal" and "Ignoreland" but the half I didn't seemed like a signpost for the future with "Everybody Hurts", "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight", etc. Before you write back to yell at me, I realize this is just my opinion and I don't think anybody who doesn't see it my way should feel bad or change their own opinions. I don't think you're idiots or fools or anything close to it. At least, not for THAT reason. Dude you and I are right there when it comes to REM. |

| horstman (Syracuse, New York) | Posted: Jan 17, 2012 - 13:20 Tried to listen to this in the car the other day. Got about 3 songs in and had to stop. Not that I don't like it, it's just that after my son was born premature (and we didn't think he'd make it through the night), I went home alone, listened to this album and did a lot of soul searching, crying, weeping, and general grief. My son is now 17, he's a growing boy turning into a man. Can't get past the emotions this album unleashes on me. One song at a time, maybe, the whole album? nada. |

THAT is REM's best work. He plays a few songs from that album. But I agree with you, any song off that recording would be cool to hear on the RP play list. |

| WayUpNorth (Down on the Farm) | Posted: Sep 16, 2009 - 11:29 The weather's turned grey and chilly today and this song fits it perfectly! |
| canadapaul | Posted: Aug 15, 2009 - 23:34 nice little ethereal yet earthy run...Emerson Lake & Palmer "Still...You Turn Me On" (never heard before but it was better than their other hyperactive Pink Floyd jams; this was acoustic and funky). then Supergrass "Run" (which was new British retro rock doing old British spacey rock really really well!) and then this....i forgot how much i love this station! |

| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: Jul 15, 2009 - 08:21 Thinking back about it now i can't beleive it took me 3 or 4 listens to like an album with this, drive, ignoreland, star me kitten, night swimming, and follow the river. Definite 10 now. |
