If you'd don't love them, then we'll have to wait for the bomb to bring us together on this issue.

I love The Smiths.

This isn't their best but it still gets a 7

One of the things I liked about the Smiths back in the 80’s was that they were clearly a comedy band and no one got the joke except me. The more other people hated them the more I loved them. It’s nice to see things don’t change and even today as many people loath them as love them.
The other thing I liked was Johnny Marr on guitar.

This is a really good, valid, point that is lost on so many people. If we all were judged professionally in a day to day world by EVERYONE based on our personal views, our lives would be a lot harder to deal with on a day to day basis. The only reason Morissey (or Joplin or Jim Morrison) face these dilemmas is that the media eats, devours any and all that these artists say.

Professionally, as a Landscape Architect, I am judged on the quality of my designs, not my political affiliations, my sexual tastes, my view of the universe as a whole. Try to look past the fluff of everyday existence. It opens up a lot of doors.

I have always liked the Smiths. Morissey is a quirky chap but what the hell. Rather be entertained by him than Justin Timberlake!!!

True. There are good musicians that I personally can't listen to, but I wouldn't call them talentless. The Smiths influenced so many bands that it isn't even funny(the Shins, Modest Mouse, etc.) Calling them talentless is just retarded.

There's a trend at RP that needs to stop

1) one person says that they love the band/song/genre
2) another person asserts that they hate the band/song/genre
3) someone personally attacks the dissenter

Can't we keep this on the level of the music, instead of being so...Republican?
