I was so intrigued with Mark Kozelek's vocals and the lyrics of this song, I went searching the interwebz to try to find out what he's saying here. Apparently there's quite a debate re: if he's writing from the point of view of a serial killer, or just of a lonely lovelorn guy. When a song can stop you in your tracks like this and make you want to dig deeper, I say it's a good thing.

Some, thankfully rare, times, you just have to hear someone sing a few notes to really take against their voice - I have the same reaction to Dylan and Young (my loss, I'm sure). This was sucko-barfo from the first bar, sadly :(

With the exception of one upbeat song (Lily and Parrots), the whole CD sounds like this. If you like it, the CD is worth it. Listening to it puts you in a place that feels like that moment between waking and sleeping, when the world is not quite real yet, but you know it's there. Absolutley breathtaking.
I don't give 10s easily, but this...yes.

Anything that mentions this guitarist (and KK Downing) from Judas Priest hsa gotta be good...

Formerly the Red House Painters, the new Sun Kil Moon delivers on this absolutely beautiful and touching song, Glen Tipton. As a matter of fact, the entire album is a amazing array of acoustic, Neil Youngesque, but with their own twist of mostly folk-indie-rock. The guitars on this cd are infectious, and the melodies stick with you. An instant classic song, Glen Tipton, to go along with one of the best cds of 2003.
