Was lucky to live in range of WQBK FM near Albany, NY in the 70s and they'd play this pretty regularly (along with other eclectic stuff.  They were as close to RP as I've heard in a broadcast station. Of course they are just another crap radio station now)

A 10 for me.

I always heard it as opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one, but people generally don't want to see yours.

Cover photo trivia (from Wiki): The cover art features Waits sitting in a go-go dancer's dressing room, with a topless go-go dancer standing nearby who is rumored to be Cassandra Peterson who is famously known for her character Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

Okay - I'm starting to have a deeper appreciation for this song - I'll bump it up to 7.  I catch a new line or 2 every time, that I hadn't heard before.  Also it reminds me of a song by the band Laika called "Badtimes" that lists out all the supposed things a computer virus will do to wreck havoc on your life....

It's a shame that Wait's wit is lost upon most people.

Including from the Sopranos, NASA and Dylan, he represents the best things to have been produced by the USA since WW2.

Oh yes, this one again! First heard it when it came out, a true classic. Not sure how anyone could not "get it". Maybe these younger folks didn't grow up with all those lines from hundreds of ads I was bombarded with in my youth in the 60's and 70's ...

Ok. It finally reached overplayed status. I rated this a 9, but it's becoming annoying. I know I have no right to say things like "I expect the playlist to be more varied", but please, Tom Waits has so many other good songs, you know.

I only ever hear this song on RP and usually not more than once a month.  How is that overplayed?
