We seem to be hearing a lot more Kent on RP of late, which is a good thing. I have tried to get some more stuff on the playlist (both recently and some time ago) but always denied! 747 stayed on the LRC for quite some time and got a good reaction but obviously didn't quite cut it..! It was the English version - maybe someone wants to try the original?! :)

Sigur Ros?     More like Abba, which I happen to like, and I happen to be a bigger Viking than you are so no negative comments. ;-)   Great party tune.  This one just rocks out.

This song has two things I love in a good rock song: a beat you can dance to and an androgynous sounding lead singer.

You definitely should! I recommend you start with this one, "Hagnesta Hill". It's a complete masterpeice and my personal favorite. Can be found in english although the lyrical vividness doesn't come anywhere near the swedish one - but I guess it's better to understand the words than to not at all.
Or maybe I changed my mind, go with the swedish version - even though you can't understand the lyrics the mere sound of the swedish words complement the instruments so much better than the english version.

When you've fell in love with Hagnesta, check out "Du & jag döden", "Vapen & ammunition" and also the first CD on "B-sidor 95-00". They are all awesome records.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the tip. Well worth checking out. I'll go for the Swedish-language original version, for the reasons you state - a language has its own sound and rhythms which often don't 'translate' well. For instance, I'm a big fan of Gaelic-language music, and the sound of the language and of the music are organically linked - English 'translations' would be, at best, clunky.

Thanks again to RP for bringing so many brill Scandinavian artists to our attention. Truly an unmined (for English speakers) but rich vein of culture.

Very nice. I found myself hearing shades of U2 in this song and, since it is in Swedish (right?), I had to make up my own lyrics (in English). Initial rating = 7 / 10 .
