![]() Electric Version (2003) [ larger cover art ] |
It was crime at the time, but the laws, we changed 'em
Though the hero for hire's forever the same one
Introducing for the first time
Pharoah on the microphone. Sing all hail.
What'll be revealed today
When we peer to the great unknown
From the land of the throne
Awakened to cheers after years on the fault line
We are shocked to be here in the face of the meantime
Pharaoh, all your methods have taught me
Is to separate my blood from bone, it will all fail
Feel what I feel today
When we peer to the great unknown
From the land of the throne
Form a line through here
Form a line through here
Form a line to the throne
Form a line to the throne
Form a line through here
Form a line through here
Form a line to the throne
Form a line to the throne
Alone in the chain, it remains to be seen how
How well you can play when the pawn takes a queen now?
Introducing for the first time
Pharoah on the microphone. Sing all hail
What will be revealed today
When we peer into the great unknown
From the land of the throne
Sing all hail
What will be revealed today
When we peer into the great unknown
From the land of the throne
Form a line through here
Form a line through here
Form a line to the throne
Form a line to the throne
Form a line through here
Form a line through here
Form a line to the throne
Form a line to the throne

I've got a fever! and the only cure is . . . More Neko!!!! And I do like this tune as well - Neko just makes it better! We're polar-opposites, I think. I LOVE Patty Griffin's voice, but Neko Case's voice is so bombastic to me that I can only handle small doses of her music. She's talented, and she's got a powerful, resonant voice. Sometimes, though, I want less power and a little more nuance, or poignancy. It's just different strokes for different folks, I guess.Peace? ![]() |

| lemmoth (NYC) | Posted: Jun 20, 2008 - 12:58 First thought is that it sounded a bit like the oneders -you know that famous Playtone band from the fake '60s. But I like it -- I really do - want to explore more of TNP and not as fond as Neko solo. |
| wenatchee (Duvall, WA) | Posted: Jun 20, 2008 - 12:56 Sounds like Neko snuck in there for some vocal bits - |

| natural_tools (Dallas, TX) | Posted: Jul 10, 2007 - 15:01 This song is kind of fun, but I've always thought this album was more like a parody of a pop album. Or a clinical analysis of catchy songs. "Hm, it should have 'na na na's' and clapping and a drum beat like this." "Should the words make any sense?" "Nah, it's catchy." |
| Frater_Kork (Uppsala, Sweden) | Posted: Jul 10, 2007 - 14:56 Instantly nekognisable voice. =) |

| winter (hither and yon (mostly yon)) | Posted: Aug 29, 2005 - 19:38 I like these guys SO much better than the Old Pornographers. I always used to ask the Old Pornogrpahers, "Where's the mystery? Where's the glamor and seduction?" And they'd say, "Look, you gonna buy that or just breathe real heavy on it the rest of the night?" |
| Nuance (Winnipeg) | Posted: Jul 16, 2005 - 08:18 I had no idea Neko was in this band. Have always loved her stuff... What a nice treat when I opened the CD... Too bad the whole thing wasn't this cohesive in writing. |
| redeyespy (Sunny, FL) | Posted: Jul 16, 2005 - 08:17 Pretty cool. Prefer Neko on her own though. Here it sounds like she's singing with Cheap Trick or something. |
