I make an annual birthday CD for my dear friend who's many states away. Today's her day! This song is #2 (second only to Arcade Fire's Sprawl II).

I've heard the song and enjoyed it without paying it much heed. But today, listening to the lyrics, I've gained considerably more appreciation for it.

I'll try. In fact I think I will have a t-shirt made up saying 'Nick Cave told me to fuck off'. It will go down well here.

Unfair comparison.  The blues driven well crafted nature of this is more like the incredibly skillful work of Dig Lazarus Dig and can't effectively be compared to the raw passion and power of songs like the Mercy Seat or albums like Henry's Dream.  I rated this 10 and would rate the Mercy Seat 10 but for such very different reasons.  Just a tribute to the absolute skill of Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds.

By the way, this (double) album is a really fantastic piece of work and a tad more accessible than some Nick Cave. I'd certainly recommend it if you want to dip into his crazy world.
