![]() She Hangs Brightly (1991) [ larger cover art ] |
Waitin' for a sign from you
Waitin' for a signal to change
Have you forgotten what your love can do?
Is this the end?
Walkin' through the city
Your boots are high-heeled and are shinin' bright
The sunlight sparklin' on the shaft of your knife
Flower in the morning rain
Dying in my hand
Was it all in vain?
Superstar in your own private movie
I wanted just a minor part
But I'm no fool
I know you're cool
I never really wanted your heart
You're keeper of the key
Nothing seems to bring you down
It's not that cool when I'm around
Flower in the morning rain
Dying in my hand
Was it all in vain?
Superstar in your own private movie
I wanted just a minor part
But I'm no fool
I know you're cool
I never really wanted your heart

| unclehud (now 50 feet above the planet in Boston) | Posted: Jan 24, 2013 - 16:42 Old Grey Whistle Test (see Iggy Pop video below), according to Wikipedia "... is an influential BBC2 television music show that ran from 1971 to 1987." Note: Don't see why Wikipedia uses the present tense "is" when the show ceased to be in 1987. Nor do I see any connection between the video and Mazzy Star's Blue Flower, except the double consonants and number of syllables in the artist's names. Just doing my part for global enlightenment. |

Never heard them before, so the power of reminiscing does nothing for me. And on first listen, I have to ask what the heck there is about this song that makes it appealing? Bad singing, heavy noise, monotonous tone... so, what? |

Wa-a-a-a-ay back when the Internet was done via Morse code, live365.com used to be recorded concerts. They had one of David Cassidy that was mostly swearing/screaming at the audience to shut up and a lot of candid comments about what a joke he considered himself because this internet thing was the only gig he could get. It was both difficult to listen to and difficult to turn off. |
| OZA | Posted: Feb 20, 2008 - 09:48 superflyLD wrote: Just an off night I guess. Nope. I saw her walk off the stage at the Boulder Theatre in the 90's. It's a small venue with a bar. People are going to talk. Get over it. |
| superflyLD (Boston, MA) | Posted: Feb 13, 2008 - 12:16 so Hope Sandoval (aka Mazzy Star) is playing a show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston... and the crowd is getting restless... it is a very dimly lit show (at the artist's request) and a lot of people were there to see Hope b/c they heard she was cute... not a shadow on stage.. so a bit into the show a quiet crowd started chit-chatting, drinking at the bar and what-not. Mazzy stopped the show and started complaining about the crowd being too loud. Someone shouted out "We love you Hope!" to which she replied: "I don't need you to love me. I need you to SHUT THE F**K UP!" Amazingly bizarre moment out of all the live shows I've worked/seen. Almost the whole crowd turned on her. She was very apologetic after the show and is a TOTAL SWEETHEART in person. Just an off night I guess. |
