Thanks Bill, nice to hear one of these once in awhile.  Really enjoyed it in the context of where PF was at that point in their growth and where it fit into the times.

I'm a huge fan of PF, but this is too repetitive, drab and underwhelming.

Which is why Mr. Emerson of the Nice went and found himself Mr. Lake of King Crimson.

Actually - the Floyd - like hundreds of other musicians including the Beatles - were probably listening to Pet Sounds a lot in the summer of '66 and all the seasons to follow  before they stepped in to record this.

Oh - and the probably listened to Revolver and Sgt Pepper as well.

This is a very cool piece of work.

A favorite Floyd cut, in part because it sounds so different from their other stuff (which I also love).

Feel the complete opposite. After that dredge by Sigur Ros it is so good to hear something great from some talented musicians.

I still love this after all of these years; Rick Wright's piano melodies have always been very soothing to my ear.

The Kinks couldn't carry Floyd's guitar straps or any other equipment.  No really, they asked one time and Waters told em to piss off!
One of the greatest album covers of all time BTW and a great song! 8

Along with Relayer and a few other pals, I saw "The Wall" tour back in November '10 in Tampa. As expected, it was outstanding...no...it was epic despite the fact that it was performed in a professional ice hockey arena and we had nosebleed seats.  I spoke with one concert goer who had seen the original Wall tour in NY.  He too was positively impressed with Roger's new production.  I can't wait for the DVD to come out for it. We were hoping Gilmour would choose the Tampa show for his one-time impromptu appearance but no dice.  Does anyone know what show he played?  Has he shown up yet? ;)

Yes, Gilmour played at th O2 in London in May. He came on for Comfortably Numb.

Apparently Nick Mason was in the audience but resisted the urge to join in... It is very sad that they no longer have the option to reform as a 4 piece.

I saw the epic "Wall" tour recently. After you see the Waters show, I can pretty much guarantee that you will change your mind about preferring to see Gilmour (and I'm a big fan of both).

About eight years ago my son was in middle school and heard me playing this tune.  He said he really liked it asked me to put it on his iPod.  It's still there and still one of his favorite albums.  Mine too.

I have a DTS version of the original Quad recording for this I just got a hold of. Brings back tons of memories.

Picture this...Its 1975 me and 4 buddies out in the desert sitting around a campfire enjoying some spores. My buddie had an 8 track quad player in his van. He brings out the box speakers and set them all around us. The sky is pitch black and the stars are amazing...He drops in this album in quad. It was one of those amazing moments in my life...

wow... thanks Bill I love this album, a little strange at times but well worth a cup of morning coffee

Wow, it has been AGES since I last heard this song.

Remember Album-Oriented-Rock radio? I mean, before it became an over-programmed joke. They used to play what were called "deep cuts" or songs off albums that didn't get airtime.

This was a "deep cut" when I was a lowly DJ way back when. And, in fact, I think the last time I heard this song was when I cued it up on WGNL (We Got No Listeners) in '72 or '73.

This is one of the reasons I send a few bucks to RP. Forgotten gems.
