hey honey what you trying to say
as i stand here
don't you walk away
and the world comes tumbling down
hand in hand in a violent life
making love on the edge of a knife
and the world comes tumbling down
and it's hard
for me to say
and it's hard
for me to stay
i'm going down
to be by myself
i'm going back
for the good of my health
and there's one thing
i couldnt do
sacrifice myself to you
sacrifice
baby baby i just can't see
just what you mean to me
i take my aim and i fake my words
i'm just your long time curse
and if you walk away
i can't take it
but that's the way that you are
and that's the things that you say
but now you've gone too far
with all the things you say
get back to where you come from
i can't help it
under the april skies
under the april sun
sun grows cold
sky gets black
and you broke me up
and now you won't come back
shaking hand, life is dead
and a broken heart
and a screaming head
as i stand here
don't you walk away
and the world comes tumbling down
hand in hand in a violent life
making love on the edge of a knife
and the world comes tumbling down
and it's hard
for me to say
and it's hard
for me to stay

| aspicer (Chicago, IL) | Posted: Nov 30, 2012 - 13:11 A total classic! LOVE IT! More JMC please, Bill. |
| hidey (NZ) | Posted: Nov 30, 2012 - 13:10 Och far too short-lived a band. Brilliant. C'moan the Reids! |
| bluejay08003 | Posted: Sep 28, 2012 - 17:36 This is why I like RP. I don't think JMC is the best band ever, wouldn't buy their stuff, but still I love to hear this in the set. The blast from the past and its place in the set between Elvis Costello and Van Morrison is what makes it worth listening to. |
| kingart (Brooklyn NY) | Posted: Sep 28, 2012 - 17:35 Another RP first. First impulse, this is an 8! Crank it! Probably 20 years old and better than stuff from yesterday. |
| neuticle (fog fog fog) | Posted: Sep 28, 2012 - 17:33 YAY YAY YAY !!! |
| aspicer (Chicago, IL) | Posted: May 25, 2012 - 12:00 NOW.......NOW we're TALKIN'!!!!! Bring it!!! Awesome tune and a truly pioneering band! And, YES, we could use more J&MJ on RP. |
| neuticle (fog fog fog) | Posted: May 25, 2012 - 12:00 Thanks Bill...just made my day |
| Foot (NorCal / Wine) | Posted: Apr 23, 2012 - 18:30 More J & M Chain! Their record "Automatic" one of the greats of all time. |

| Andy_B (aboard MV "Horizon," east coast Fla) | Posted: Oct 16, 2011 - 14:02 Never heard it before. Really good song. Gets an 8 from me. |
| Cynaera (Kenneth's Frequency) | Posted: Aug 14, 2011 - 15:48 I like this song! Not comparing it to anyone else. |
| drews (London, Blighty) | Posted: Sep 01, 2010 - 08:07 In their days, these boys were great live, intense and mental as I recall. April Skies is a classic. |
| Stefen (West Hollywood, CA) | Posted: Jun 29, 2010 - 10:50 I keep expecting the pace to quicken. |
| bachbeet | Posted: Jun 29, 2010 - 10:50 Always liked this group. As some have alluded to they had a sorta retro sound. |
| peacockangel (Phoenix) | Posted: Mar 26, 2010 - 07:18 that's the way she is |

| ejsamuel (great white north) | Posted: Aug 06, 2008 - 17:51 Man - I missed this band completely during my multi-year excursion outa rock/pop genre. Solid tune ;-) |
| prickelpit96 (Hannover, Germany) | Posted: Sep 27, 2007 - 03:43 OMG, how often did we dance to this song in the 80s.....?

Agreed on BMRC, but J+M went into the 90's. Saw them in '92 (I think) with Curve & Spiritualized. I remember lots of strobe lights and feedback. Sometimes Always, which features Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. Here's the video. |
| Pazzat (Winchester, England) | Posted: Feb 19, 2007 - 07:03 Aww man, I popped out for coffee and missed it! |
| Daveinbawlmer (Bawlmer, Merlin. Hon.) | Posted: Aug 12, 2006 - 19:40 Badassed 80's band, precursor to BRMC ..... ? |
| queenjill (CA) | Posted: Jul 14, 2006 - 11:52 I had a JMC album once. It "disappeared" in about 1991.... Perhaps it's time to replace. |
| Duffalo (Aisle 2) | Posted: Jul 14, 2006 - 11:50 Now this is a blast from the past! This is the loudest band I have ever seen live. |
| RayRay (Göttingen, Germany) | Posted: Jun 15, 2006 - 05:04 OH YES!!! |
| rafterman (Scotland, UK) | Posted: May 31, 2006 - 14:56 pousso wrote: They're from Scotland, Don't know what happened to them. The core of the band were brothers Jim and William Reid . Jim is still active in music and William has been a bit quiet for a while. Drummer Bobbie Gillespie became the lead singer of Primal Scream who are on a bit of a comeback at the moment. 'April Skies' takes me back to my moody teenage years. Rock on........ |
| StevenQ (Ah, Grasshopper, where do you THINK I am?) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 11:05 Classic. I love the "majestic" sound. I'm a sucker for it really. Never get tired of it, in this song or others as well. |
| Tritter (Chicago, IL) | Posted: Nov 22, 2005 - 12:35 Yeah really awesome & quintessential 80's----classic really--still great make-out music! |

| byrd | Posted: Nov 22, 2005 - 12:29 A lot of their tunes sound fairly similar to me. However, that doesn't keep me from enjoying the music. I dig the J&M Chain. |

You're talking about 'Stoned & Dethroned' which is a truly wise album...unless you are an achiever...and proud we are of all of them... that album has it going on. |

| foppy-knight (California) | Posted: Oct 24, 2005 - 06:35 Great band when they were in their prime. Love that J&MC trademark wall of sound.Good stuff. |

| Monoman | Posted: Nov 19, 2004 - 07:00 ahh... I still like JMC ...some earlier stuff would be nice too. :-) |
| masterhead (Sacramento, Ca) | Posted: Nov 04, 2004 - 11:30 Cool Band, so diverse from the typical eighties music. Sometimes too edgy. |
