There's something about digital U2 I that leaves me cold. When they got away from analog tape (I think it was All That You Can't Leave Behind that was their first digitally recorded record???).

But then again, I could be wrong.

And looking at your post, my message is clear by now :)
And again "U2" doesn't suck, but their `music' does. I don't know Bono and his comrades well enough to be able to say they suck, but I can say that they can't make music.

Well, I have been listening to the whole album for a little while and can say that there are 3 songs I really like from this album.

A man and a Woman, I love it! though someone mentioned that it sounds like some James Bond song... Yes, I admit it, it reminds me of a song, but I don't know which :?

Love & Peace or Else: Wow! :nodhead: This was the only track that trapped me at the first play, I really liked that raw sound.

City of Blinding lights: A really nice tune!

This is not an amazing CD, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

Saw them live last tour, and they were great....BUT....I'm wondering if Bono could ever sound like this live. He's "using" the crackle in his voice a lot in this one. That's what makes his voice special (to me), and this one sounds forced.

Hmm... interesting to hear others' impressions of this album. I have to say that I like this better than much of U2's output since the 80's.

While I loved Joshua Tree, the Eno/Lanois albums have not done it for me. This new album is a return to the U2 I loved. Steve Lillywhite seems always to capture the soul of this band, and on this outing (the album more than this particular song) gets Bono to sing again.

There was a lot of talk this fall that Pedro had...well...lost his fastball, getting by on guile and trickery, going deep in counts to a lot of hitters, giving up cheap broken bat hits when in the past he would have just blown 'em away.

Pedro's got a ring though.

What's the connection?

I would have to say that this does nada for me as well. Vertigo is crappy compared to other stuff I've heard. I'm not a hardcore U2 fan, but songs like "Elevation" are hard to top. That was the one that really got my attention. I just thought all my friends were freaks for liking them so much.

I was thinking same thing, but can't remember which bond film. It does have that smoke and silohette thing going on though.

Opposite of limp? That would be stiff. Yes, the tunes on this new CD qualify as stiff.

I think I have to admit to myself that I'm just not a U2 fan anymore. Loved everything from Unforgettable Fire to Pop, Liked "Wild Honey" on the last album, but that's it... None of the new stuff does jack for me.

Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted....
