I can't stand Aimee Mann or Bob Dylan.  I feel bad, I know I should love them but I reach for the tuner when they come on.  I'd be happy with just about any other band/singer covering their songs...  

This is awful to my ears..

Same here, which makes the tune sound so dated to me. It belongs to a moment in time which is gone. And there's that weird solo in the middle where they start by playing the Carpenters' "Superstar" melody and then veer off. What?

Technically excellent singers may be found at the local high school, church choir and subway stations. Soul baring singer-songwriters? A bit more rare, but still common. Soul touching singer songwriters? Pretty hard to find - but there's one here, in my book.

After reading the latest comments about this being draggy, I listened to the studio recording and guess what ... it's practically the same tempo! But somehow, due to the instrumentation or something, the studio version seems more "upbeat." Something like that. To me, anyway.

BTW, I still really like it.
