The instrumentals are plodding, and the singing...just horrible!!!

Echt, ääh? Der Kracha, äääh? Geil, wa?

Blackfield play in the tradition of Floyd. That we can dismiss them without regret!

BORING MUSIC FROM TIMES LONG GONE!

I love pretty much love everything Steve Wilson, but on later Blackfield albums you can pick out which songs were written by Avi - the weak ones. Not a fan of Avi at all.

I don't know well either Porcupine Tree nor Blackfield, but this song reminds me of Porcupine Tree...

I love pretty much all of Steven Wilson's stuff that I've heard, but he ruined the new Anathema cd in my opinion.  Of course, he was "only" the producer and didn't write the material, but I much preferred the band the way it was before he started messing with it.

Porcupine Tree and Blackfield are the same guy?  No wonder I dislike both of them with similar intensity.  I feel much better that two groups didn't independently come up with this depressing, noisy sludge.

Wilson is something of a musical workaholic- PT is clearly his "main" band- then there is Blackfield(with Israeli singer Aviv Geffen), No Man (with Tim Bowness), Bass Communion (his ambient drone stuff), and IEM (Incredible Expanding Mindfuck) which is his Krautrock influenced stuff. I think he works about 22 hours a day LOL

You should check out the Blackfield video for the song Blackfield- very cool It's by Lasse Hoile who does so much of Porcupine Tree's graphics and video stuff (and coincidentally is the scary lookin guy on the cover of In Absentia that everyone always cries about). He's this enormous Scandinavian multimedia artist that the band refers to as "the Yeti" LOL

And the "Blackfield Live in NYC" DVD is very fun too. I recommend it for anyone that enjoys the few Blackfield songs that get airplay here.

As I understand it, Steve Wilson is the singer for both Blackfield and Porcupine Tree. Are they concurrently producing, or did one precede the other?
