See me comin' to town with my soul, straight down out of the world at my fingers,
Holdin' on to the devil I know, all my troubles will hang on your trigger.
Take your eyes and the knife to the bone, shoot your mouth if you know where you're aimin'.
Don't forget to pick up what you sow, talking trash to the garbage around you.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
See me kicking the dog with my boots, broke down out in a ditch of old rubbish.
Snakes and bones at the back of your room, handin' out a confection of venom.
Heaven's drunk on the poison you use, charm the wolves in the eyes of a gambler.
Now I seem to come to you, hammer my bones on the anvil of daylight.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
I won't give up that ghost,
It's sick the way these tongues are twisted.
The good in us is all we know,
There's too much left to taste that's bitter.
I won't give up that ghost,
It's sick the way these tongues are twisted.
The good in us is all we know,
There's too much left to taste that's bitter.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

The fact that they have a tax free status after pulling crap like Operation Snow White sickens me. |

Erm? I wouldn't use this kind of flavorful language to describe even my most loathed artists. Beck at the very least shows his musical diversity and wears his fruitloop personality on his sleeve. Out of curiosity, did you not like his more minimalist arrangements for his album Sea Change either? I'm just taking a stab to see if an accoustic based album would be less grating as it seems you're not fond of certain electronically propelled efforts. And I don't know if it's totally fair to compare him to Moby. Moby peaked with his album Play and has been loosing most of his won fans ever since. Beck is still a slow steady build of steam in popularity. You know what they say, if you're in the minority, be prepared to support your views with a lot more thought and detail than the majority. Just some thoughts. |

Musically, he makes no sense, lyrically he makes no sense-- If Beck was a fictional character, his career a plotline, I wouldn't buy it for a minute. But IT WORKS! Guero makes two outstanding cds in a row. This man, who should have been over years ago, has developed a catalogue of work that's even more richly compelling than it is bewildering. And listenable, too! Again, I ask... HOW does he do it! |
