Thanks for playing this..  I was going through a pretty rough time a few years ago, and a friend of mine sent me this cd and it was exactly what I needed at the time.  First time since that I've heard it.. brought me back.

Doubt it made it to the US ( too whimsical ) but I am reminded of a TV show of my youth called Noggin the Nog. The show opened with a similar horn sound...

In the lands of the North, where the Black Rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long the Men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale...

And those tales they tell are the stories of a kind and wise king and his people; they are the Sagas of Noggin the Nog. Welcome to Northlands, a tribute to Noggin, King of the Nogs and the People of the Northlands.

The "Horn" in question here is an English Horn - i.e. an Alto Oboe in F. That's what Berlioz wrote for - not sure if what is playing here is an English Horn, sounds like an Oboe to me - but close enough!

It's an oboe. The original from Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique is a duet between the cor anglais (hence the horn reference) and the oboe. This uses just the oboe bit.

Quite a cool little song

I am not a Canadian, but Wikipedia says the following:
"The track "Look Up" uses a horn solo from the beginning of the third movement of Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz."
The track "The Woods" contains quotes from the movie "Grey Gardens", the famed cult-classic documentary from 1975.

You're hearing oboe and violins, I'm guessing. Some French horns toward the end. The way her voice is processed reminds me slightly of some of the stuff Imogen Heap does.
