He's good.  If I remember correctly, I saw him at the Boathouse in Norfolk Va with John Hiatt as a member of the Goners (before a hurricane blew it down).  I think he plays with Jimmy Buffett too.

I'm usually a big fan of kitty-torture guitar playing, but there is something about the tone of Landreth's guitar I just don't care for.

This song proves that Einstein was right about time being relative.
For the lovers of the music, the time until it ends passes far too quickly, and for anyone not enjoying it this will seem like a rough demonstration of eternity.

...good value if you select it on a jukebox though!

Listening to this song after learning of Muammar Quaddafi's death just makes me realize, more than ever, that things are no longer the status quo. The balance is shifting, and I'm a little bit afraid of what will happen. I thought we had a voice, but all these things have taken place without my contribution.

Sonny has done several incantations of this old song and they are all absolutely rocking!  The best Congo Square I've ever heard was played by the Grambling university Marching Band some 20 years ago ... Big Chief of The Congo Nation, Senior lives on ....

Had a Sonny Landreth CD years ago that I never really liked. This song makes me wonder why the hell I didn't, though. To me, his guitar is such a nice combination of occasional crazy abandon with mostly veiled - but almost ominously well-coiled - restraint. Love it. The drumming (except the solo - thankfully short in my opinion) expertly and tastefully punches away beautifully in the background. The CD? Oh, yeah, it was called "South of I-10" and, like I said, I wish I had it back to listen to now. Not only that, it had a studio version of this song on it. Evidently I am an idiot.

Clearly, however, this is purely opinion - not to mention one not shared by everyone below - and that's ok.

I have his CD version of this and hit replay on the Shuffle when I'm running and it comes on. When I heard the first few bars of this version I knew I knew it but it wasn't the same and I'm enjoying this as well.

Contentious type that I am, I couldn't disagree more.

One of a very short list of beefs that I have with the programming choices made here is that music like this, which I'll loosely term jam music, is underrepresented.  This tune is a testament to monumental chops and a groove a mile deep, and in my view RP could use a lot more of this and a lot less Radiohead.
