(Ashla Bhosle)
Karmany evaadhikaraste ma phalesu kadacana
Ma karma phala hetur bhur ma te sango'stv arkamani
Paritramaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam
Dharma samsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge
(Michael Stipe)
Fall over myself
Don't mean to interrupt
I was miles away
Things I forgot
Are the footstools of God
That's how I behaved
I frighten myself and folded my hand
As you talked to God
I love the way you dream (9x)
Even my most base complaint my sweet
My aims were lower
And even though all my restraint my sweet
My aim was clumsy
And even if there's only one thing I want for you
I want for you
I love the way you dream.
I love the way you love the way you dream, one for me one for you
One for me, one for you.
| Candela | Posted: Mar 25, 2013 - 12:38 Bad song, annoying. |

| WonderLizard (2,755.46 mi. due east of Paradise) | Posted: Sep 18, 2012 - 04:10 I've long considered Stipe, a great writer and lyricist, a middle of the road vocalist, akin to, say, Jagger. They have voices suitable for what they do, but you wouldn't ask them to join Ella for a remake of the Gershwin songbook. These voices are their most telling on quiet passages—you can't shout your way through something you have trouble singing. Stipe's voice on this song is surprisingly melodious, a good thing. |
| 1wolfy (Mission Viejo California) | Posted: Aug 17, 2012 - 16:29 Perfect song for my Friday evening unwind from a hard day at work.. |

| haretic (toward Abad, just south of Maitri) | Posted: Jul 03, 2011 - 16:49 Ah, thank you Bill! I have been requesting this version of this song for some time, now. I love it! Here is a translation of at least part of the Hindi lyrics: You have Adhikara (ability, choice) over your respective duty only, but no control or claim over the results. The fruits of work should not be your motive. You should never be inactive. Whenever there is a decline of Dharma (world order) and the rise of Adharma, O Arjuna, then I appear (or manifest myself). I appear from time to time for protecting the good, for transforming the wicked, and for establishing Dharma, the world order. And that bit at the beginning that was partially lost in the lovely segue is: "Only Silence remains... because I have to listen to him, I have to listen to the silence. I have to experience him." ![]() |
| freddyb (Perth, Western Australia) | Posted: Jan 27, 2011 - 02:55 What a voice. When Maoris in New Zealand are being tattooed by the old method, they use her singing as pain relief. I prefer it without the pain. |
| socalhol (Seattle) | Posted: Jul 20, 2010 - 18:03 I much prefer the shorter version of this |
| Art_Carnage (DeepintheheartofTexas) | Posted: Jun 18, 2010 - 21:01 Overrated. Downvoting. |

| fredriley (Nottingham, UK) | Posted: Dec 11, 2009 - 08:07 A lovely mélange of influences: Indian, trip-hop, techno, and more I'm sure, with more flavours than a tub of tutti-frutti. Intriguing - only on RP. Reminds me of the sort of mix that Cheb i Sabbah would do. 8 from the Nottingham jury. |
| DoctorHooey (/etc) | Posted: Dec 11, 2009 - 08:02 I'm on record as making fun of this song, but it's really grown on me. I like it a lot. |

| MLavender | Posted: Aug 07, 2009 - 09:06 ...really enjoyed the first part. But at the end it becomes a techno song? I like plenty from that genre, but it seemed out of place at the end of that song. |
| TheKing2 (outside the USofA) | Posted: Aug 07, 2009 - 09:06 Both rating as volume control are at "9". |

| newwavegurly | Posted: Aug 07, 2009 - 09:01 I definitely prefer this version to the other one in RP's library. Much prettier, and Michael Stipe sounds vocally smoother in this version. |
| Exene (Boulder, CO) | Posted: Jul 06, 2009 - 16:55 What the hell...?? How did I miss this? Two gorgeous and completely unique voices. Thanks again for digging out a little gem I would never have heard otherwise. |
| peter_james_bond (Lunenburg, NS) | Posted: Apr 02, 2009 - 16:21 BoynHill wrote: This is a GREAT album. I bought it a few years ago after watching a late night tv show about how these guys basically just toured the world picking up all the music as they went around. So for example, the two singing parts on this track were recorded totally separately. Its a really good album to introduce people to new music, if for example they would normally only listen REM or to Robbie Williams, who sings on an earlier track. Sounds like an intriguing idea and based on this track they pulled it off. I'd like to hear more from this album, |

| RadioDoc (Chicagoland) | Posted: Apr 02, 2009 - 16:11 Tempted to post something like 1 Giant Heap but I'll give it another listen before I do that. Right now it's barely holding a 6. |
| bknv (North Vancouver, BC) | Posted: Jan 29, 2009 - 15:02 1 Giant Leap is an excellent album, start to finish. Please play more of it. |

I've proposed to Rebecca the "full version" (8 minutes) which comes from the album. It is longer, but far more interesting and beautiful IMHO. :) It's beautiful. Glad you offered it up. |

| HarrO (Florida) | Posted: Oct 26, 2008 - 18:46 I try to be open minded about other peoples taste in music and it's extremely rare that I ever post a negative comment, but this thing gives me the most incredible headache. Please, please, please, if you have to play this, go back to the 3 minute version. Thank you. |
| Atlantis | Posted: Sep 25, 2008 - 03:07 My God! It is still going!! I always go to make a cup of tea when something awful comes on. That way, I don't have to hear it and the chances are something decent will be on after. I come back and this mindless, repetitive nonsense is still £*$*ing going! AAARRGH! On the plus side, I have finally figured out to get the pound sign on a Czech keyboard. Silver lining and all that. :) |
| jools (Brighton UK) | Posted: Sep 25, 2008 - 02:56 Thanks Bill & Rebecca - a truly beautiful and classy track. |
