I've long considered Stipe, a great writer and lyricist, a middle of the road vocalist, akin to, say, Jagger. They have voices suitable for what they do, but you wouldn't ask them to join Ella for a remake of the Gershwin songbook. These voices are their most telling on quiet passages—you can't shout your way through something you have trouble singing. Stipe's voice on this song is surprisingly melodious, a good thing.

I have been requesting this version of this song for some time, now. I love it!

Here is a translation of at least part of the Hindi lyrics:

A lovely mélange of influences: Indian, trip-hop, techno, and more I'm sure, with more flavours than a tub of tutti-frutti. Intriguing - only on RP. Reminds me of the sort of mix that Cheb i Sabbah would do. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

this is a great album. well worth picking up. there's a very cool documentary out about the whole project. i recommend picking that up too.

...really enjoyed the first part.  But at the end it becomes a techno song?  I like plenty from that genre, but it seemed out of place at the end of that song.

I definitely prefer this version to the other one in RP's library. Much prettier, and Michael Stipe sounds vocally smoother in this version.

My God!  It is still going!!

I always go to make a cup of tea when something awful comes on.  That way, I don't have to hear it and the chances are something decent will be on after.  I come back and this mindless, repetitive nonsense is still £*$*ing going!  AAARRGH!

On the plus side, I have finally figured out to get the pound sign on a Czech keyboard.  Silver lining and all that. :)
