Backtiming was an art. You were lucky if you got to rearrange the play order. A lot of us didn't.
For a brief time, I got to use Wall of Voodoo- Mexican Radio into the 3PM ABC news. What Does He Say?

Not to brag or anything, but back in the way back when I was a DJ at a small AM station (later AM/FM) I prided myself in being able to arrange songs so that I didn't need an instrumental to get me into the top-of-the hours news and station ID.

I might as well be talking about a lost art like calligraphy because I'm pretty sure this is not a "skill" (such as it was) that counts for much.
