Get on your dancing shoes
There's one thing on your mind
Hoping they're looking for you
Sure you'll be rummaging through
Oh, and the shit, shock, horror
You've seen your future bride
Yeah, but it's oh so absurd
For you to say the first word
So you're waiting and waiting and
The only reason that you came
So what you scared for?
Well, don't you always do the same?
It's what you're there for, don't you know?
The lights are flashing
Down in here tonight
And some might exchange a glance
But keep pretending to dance
Don't act like it's not happening
As if it's impolite
To go and mention your name
Instead you'll just do the same
As they all do and hope for the best
The only reason that you came
So what you scared for?
Well, don't you always do the same?
It's what you're there for but no
Get on your dancing shoes
You sexy little swine
Hoping they're looking for you
Sure you'll be rummaging through
And I said the shit, shock, horror
You've seen your future bride, yeah
Yeah, but it's, oh, so absurd
For you to say the first word
So you're waiting and waiting
| tmurrayis (Surrey, BC Canada) | Posted: Apr 14, 2007 - 19:16 I have missed this band until now. Better late than never. I need to break my mundane 70's, 80.s etc habit. I like the energy. |
| honeygirl (New England... USA) | Posted: Apr 23, 2006 - 20:16 Ok.. it's ok.. but Zeppelin's coming up next & I'll enjoy them more.... .... as head banging is to rock n' roll ... |
| hippiechick | Posted: Apr 19, 2006 - 14:02 Okay, I give in. I tried not to like these guys but I do. They rock! |
| Odyzzeuz (Austin, Texas) | Posted: Apr 19, 2006 - 14:01 The word from SXSW is that they were underwhelming live. The crowd began leaving after just a few numbers. But I personally think their album is fresh and interesting. |

Oh, Catmaven. Get on your dancing shoes, you sexy little swine. |
| hcaudill (Washington, DC) | Posted: Apr 16, 2006 - 09:22 This is a terrific hard-driving rock-and-roll album. All of you who are obsessing about whether they live up to the hype need to just ignore the hype and listen to the music. |

They're not. They're the ordinary common or garden variety of shite |

| SCJoniguy (Greenville,SC) | Posted: Mar 21, 2006 - 05:52 "Get on your dancin' shoes, you sexy little swine"...what a classic rock and roll line. Great song, great album. |

But this stuff coming out of the speakers at the moment is just plain |
| sanch0 | Posted: Mar 16, 2006 - 08:22 As much as I want to dislike this album and band, they write some damn-catchy tunes. Yes, it's not ground-breaking or earth-shattering. Yes, it's derrivative but what isn't nowadays? |

| tiddalick (Scotland) | Posted: Mar 03, 2006 - 06:34 They're fine, but I am not quite sure what all the hysteria is about. I have the album, and there's a couple of decent tracks, but two-thirds of it is filler. Yawwwwn. |
| Death_to_Clear_Channel (Chicago) | Posted: Mar 03, 2006 - 06:31 So this is the new "it" band, eh? This reporter is not impressed. |

| SuperWeh (51° 59' 46" N, 4° 21' 13" E) | Posted: Feb 24, 2006 - 03:37 There currently seems to be a gazillion bands like this; format is something like: very straight cornery rhythm, simple chord structure, basic chords (no jazzy dim/add/sus/embellishment stuff going on), instruments: 2 guitars, bass, drum (no synth), yelling lead singer, guitars: telecasters or es335 (no effects), slightly overdriven amps (preferably orange/fender), lots of strumming, beatles style long hair, lots of energy, hmm that seems about it. Having said that, I do like some of them, namely this band and also "Bloc Party". |
| crowhog2000 (Cincinnati, Ohio USA Baby) | Posted: Feb 24, 2006 - 03:30 good energetic jam for an early Friday morning.....it's gonna be a good day! |

| lixy (Sverige) | Posted: Feb 17, 2006 - 06:30 Not "the only reason that you came" for, but this kind of sound sure makes you stay tuned to RP. |
| rKokon (Colesville, MD) | Posted: Feb 17, 2006 - 06:29 Again, am conflicted! This song really rocks. Am not listening to the lyrics. Am ignoring the offensive smoker photo on the album cover. What great rock instrumentation, hard-rock windup at the end--see conflicted emoticons below. |
| timc (Waterloo, ON (2512 miles/4043 km from Paradise, CA)) | Posted: Feb 17, 2006 - 06:27 These guys are way overplayed on RP. Could they be the new U2? |
| webslinger48 | Posted: Feb 16, 2006 - 15:01 Lots of noise from Europe about this band...and "noise" is what I would call their music. They deserve to be an ephemeral band, nothing more. Two years from now, they will barely be a blip in our memories. Like Elastica. They don't get the pub, but BRMC (played a bit ago) are much better. |
| g-rod (Church of the Acceptance of Mortality) | Posted: Feb 09, 2006 - 10:32 These guys really rock! I've liked every song I've heard so far. |

| smadanayr (Llaingoch, Cymru, U.K.) | Posted: Feb 06, 2006 - 17:29 Why always the reference to other british bands eg. Coldplay, when a new British rock band come out.. "lively alternative to Coldplay" I dont get it.. Arctic monkeys have been around for donkeys, being an internet band to start with: "They first started to gain the attention of the mainstream public when their demos were made available to download on the internet in late 2004. Around this time they began to receive a great deal of attention from BBC Radio 1 and the British tabloid press for their catchy songs and witty lyrics. Their appearance on the Carling Stage at the 2005 Reading and Leeds Festivals was hyped by much of the music press NME in particular and the band was received by an unusually large crowd for the billing they played. The critically acclaimed performance even included spontaneous sing-alongs from the band's most devoted fans. Impressively, this included tracks that were only available as demos on the Internet" Is Coldplay the ONLY band you guys hear from Blighty in foreign lands? |
| noelbarnes (Santa Cruz) | Posted: Feb 06, 2006 - 17:24 sold out in SF next month already... |
| acidreflucks (Media PA) | Posted: Feb 02, 2006 - 13:42 This is the new "hot" group in UK - fastest first album sales in yonks, or something like that. Well it seems like a more lively alternative to coldplay or radiohead, anyway, tho its hard to see from this one song wot orl the fuss is abaht But then I'm a deaf idiot when it comes to really making out the lyric |
| rKokon (Colesville, MD) | Posted: Feb 02, 2006 - 13:39 Great, great hard rock sound! But some of the lyrics are offensive. I am conflicted. |
