I said who's that girl there?
I wonder what went wrong so that she had to roam the streets
She don't do major credit cards, I doubt she does receipts
It's all not quite legitimate
And what a scummy man
Just give him half a chance, I bet he'll rob you if he can
Can see it in his eyes, yeah, that he's got a driving ban
Amongst some other offenses
And I've seen him with girls of the night
And he told Roxanne to put on her red light
They're all infected but he'll be alright
'Cause he's a scumbag, don't you know?
I said he's a scumbag, don't you know?
Although you're trying not to listen
Avert your eyes and staring at the ground
She makes a subtle proposition
"I'm sorry, love, I'll have to turn you down"
Oh, you know he must be up to summat
What are the chances? Sure it's more than likely
I've got a feeling in my stomach
I start to wonder what his story might be, what his story might be
Yeah, 'cause they said it changes when the sun goes down
Yeah, they said it changes when the sun goes down
And they said it changes when the sun goes down around here
Around here, oh
Look here comes a Ford Mondeo
Isn't he Mister Inconspicuous?
And he don't even have to say 'owt
She's in the stance ready to get picked up
Bet she's delighted when she sees him
Pulling in and giving her the eye
Because she must be fucking freezing
Scantily clad beneath the clear night sky
It don't stop in the winter, no
And they said it changes when the sun goes down
Yeah, they said it changes when the sun goes down
And they said it changes when the sun goes down around here
They said it changes when the sun goes down
Over the river going out of town
And they said it changes when the sun goes down around here
Around here
What a scummy man
Just give him half a chance
I bet he'll rob you if he can
Can see it in his eyes that he's got a nasty plan
I hope you're not involved at all

Did this dude really use the words "syncopation" and "lyrical ease" in defending the Arctic Monkeys? Stuff the music critic parlance in the hamper with your dirty socks, bud...all I'm hearing from these guys are mediocre Strokes' b-sides. Never mind syncopation...people either like them or they don't...and judging from the comments on this board, they don't! Which is just fine, because any band that gets this big this fast is bound to fall from glory soon anyways (See: Oasis). |

You can say that you don't like them. You can call them a bunch of apes. But to say that what they express is not even music clearly shows that you are narrow minded and quite bluntly, ignorant! This is a radio station, and radio stations play MUSIC. |

| noahv (Seattle, WA) | Posted: May 21, 2006 - 09:57 ...is that these guys have really only been musicians for 3 years or so. Look at their bio |
| jlind (Chicago, IL) | Posted: May 21, 2006 - 09:54 I'm pretty disconected from any circles that hype bands, RP is about the only thing I listen to anymore. I think these guys are pretty good, I'd like to hear more. |

| Fan (Enschede) | Posted: Apr 27, 2006 - 05:43 A very likable, enthousiastic and talented young band with their musical heart on the right place! It's a shame they became the hype like they are (were), it almost makes it impossible to simply judge their music ... which is actually pretty good (but not overwhelming) |

I hope so. Love the lyrics. "'Cause he's a scumbag..." I know that guy. It's interesting that Bill was playing these guys a LONG time before the rest of the world noticed them. |
| wondertoofar (There and back again) | Posted: Mar 30, 2006 - 12:46 I like the genteel nature of the song but I would agree they're on the verge of being overplayed. I think the name is quite ordinary. Lacks imagination. |
