| Gartholamundi (Gainesville, FL) | Posted: Feb 27, 2009 - 07:13 i've dug Guadacanal Diary for two decades it seems ... this track goes good with the earlier Tracy Chapman "Mountains of Things, and would be good followed by Timbuk 3's "Prey" and Chuck Brodsky's "Our Gods" ... IMO ... |
| Danimal174 (Upstate South Carolina) | Posted: Nov 24, 2008 - 12:31 Not too bad. I don't really hear Nirvana in this at all...sounds more like the Connells to me. |

Actually of all the GD songs out there, this is one of the least impressive, there are so many better ones (not that this one is bad) but Watusi Rodeo (the obvious one), Jamboree, Pray for Rain, Gilbert Takes the Wheel, Michael Rockefeller, 2x4, I See Moe, Cattle Prod, 3 am, so so so many. They really never wrote a bad song. If you dismiss GD, then your life is a little less richer, too bad. |

And hey, didn't GcD come before Cobain 'n' Co.? I tend to consider the 90s grungers as so original, but this is making me re-think that a little. That's funny, just last night I was telling my wife how I never got into grunge because it didn't impress me as anything new or original compared to what had come out in the 80s, it just seemed fresh compared to what was on the radio at the time. |

Completely disagree. Guadalcanal Diary are one of the most overlooked bands of the eighties, IMHO. |

| joek | Posted: Nov 22, 2006 - 10:37 Nirvana? wow...weird.... GcD were a DB records band back in the early/mid 80's...strange comparison. If you like this try tracking down the first record by Zeitgeist/The Reivers called "translate slowly"...really good stuff. lmic wrote: Smells like Nirvana.

| rjs (Atlanta, GA) | Posted: Jul 13, 2006 - 19:06 Forget the buy low/sell high crappy kinds of recommendations.
