![]() How We Operate (2006) [ larger cover art ] |
You can make up a list of the things you want
Could be anything
When you've crossed them all off and there's nothing left
Just start again
The occasional milestone on your path
Shows how far you've come
But the record will show when it's all too much
And not enough
So step right up
(Everything's just fine)
I'm only here to do what's right
If it cannot be slowed and it's too late to change
Just cover up
Keep it spinning around out of control
Till it's hard to stop
Like a moth to the flame you can't resist
You have to get involved
Why did you get involved?
So step right up
(Everything's just fine)
I'm only here to do what's right
(Step right up)
Don't worry, I'm on it
Tell us, what's your secret?
How come it works every time?
You make it look so easy
Like you don't even try
Tell us, what's your secret?
Have you got something to hide?
If giving up's so easy
Why do you even try?
And the record will show you were falling fast
It was all too much
And you weren't fast enough
So step right up
(Everything's just fine)
Don't worry, I'm on it
Tell us, what's the secret?
How come it works every time?
You make it look so easy
Like you don't even try
Tell us, what's your secret?
Have you got something to hide?
If giving up's so easy
Why do you even try?
It's like you don't even try
It's never all too much
Yeah, not enough
It's like you don't even try
It's never all too much
Yeah, not enough
| pomalley (springfield, IL) | Posted: Feb 07, 2007 - 09:50 Yep, it's weird how some songs kinda sound generic. I'm sure the band didn't expect it to sound that way but it kinda does. fatcatjb wrote: if this song were on any other radio station, I would have moved on...just sounds like an ordinary, everyday rock song with occasionally breathy vocals |

| lmic (Uniondale, NY) | Posted: Feb 07, 2007 - 09:46 Is this a bit Eddie Vedder-ish? |

This is a very good Gomez disc. Listen closer it may just be your ears are not hearing the growth. I think that this album doesn't show the growth or potential that their earlier albums express. "In Your Gun" was probably their climax as far as musical genius, depth, and pure playing power. Its been a downward spiral from there (not a big spiral mind you) with this album and I see them making more money and increasing their fan base all of which is good. But for me, myself, I think this album doesn't cut it. You can think whatever the hell you want. Remember, we come here to express our opinions and share common (or uncommon thoughts). Your point is well taken. I just don't care for your intepretation of my opinion. |

| themotion (the great city of austin in the not so great state of texas) | Posted: Aug 30, 2006 - 16:42 sounds like they found a few good hooks and kinda patched 'em together . . . |

I don't care if gomez suddenly became as widely known as Gnarls Barkley, all that matters is what you think of this song. But make no mistake, that doesn't it matters to anyone but you. Maybe I live in my own pop-culture bubble. Would being as widely known as Gnarls Barkley be all that widely known? Who is Gnarls Barkley? As for this song... Not as good as some of the others being played off this album, but not bad. -mt- |

Time to seal the vault again on that pop-culture vacuum..... |

| zakfoy (Chapel Hill, NC) | Posted: Jul 17, 2006 - 18:31 This isn't my favorite song on the album, but it's good to hear something different from the album being represented....I cannot get tired of these guys, though. Just too good. |
| Darkmatter (Sweden) | Posted: Jul 03, 2006 - 02:41 I like this song because it is Gomez, but I can't shake the feeling this is what Coldplay would sound like after smoking a hookah. Good song, but nowhere near the heights of Bring it on. |

Then again, Gomez may be driven by the desires of their record label which is really driven by the bottom dollar like most enterprises in America, right? Anyway, I've posted my disappointment with this band's new album before and I will again. It is not up to their quality work. | earthbased (Milwaukee, WI USA) | Posted: Jun 10, 2006 - 14:49 Bill must really like Gomez. Plays the band almost every day. It would be cool to have a overall average rating for all songs of the band. |
| aos (NY) | Posted: May 20, 2006 - 07:16 this song is strangly good |
| betterdaze (I said it right, didn't I?) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 10:47 Yep. Still like it. |
| Denzil (Kansas City,MO, USA) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 10:47 Sounds kind of like the lead singer from Live. Otherwise, not particularly impressive. |

... OK, done, satisfied? ... oh, this is How We Operate, right? ... Yeah, you'd think by the average rating, they'd realize everyone isn't sooooo impressed. I agree with previous comments about the commercial sound to this.. that dropped it a little lower for me. |
| newwavegurly | Posted: May 05, 2006 - 17:43 The vocals on this one remind me a little of Robert Palmer. |

| hcaudill (Washington, DC) | Posted: Apr 17, 2006 - 07:53 I'm a big fan of Gomez, but at first listen this doesn't do much for me. Sounds made for FM radio. |
| iggy33 | Posted: Apr 13, 2006 - 07:23 Don't really know what to think on this first audio of the new Gomez album. Anyone out there knows any more about it..? |
