| x3n0b07 (Chico, CA) | Posted: May 17, 2006 - 20:20 This song intrigued me enough to give the whole cd a listen, and I must say, I was floored. Intelligent, thoughtful, musical rap? Never heard of it. Until now. And a whole cd of it. First rap cd I actually *enjoyed* the whole way through. Perception-shattering. Thanks to everyone in the pipeline who helped push this through my speakers. |
| Dahnyul | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 23:00 Well, for a group of people tuned into 'eclectic' music there seems to be quite a lot of prejudice. By that I mean pre-judged. Dismissing an entire genre of music, whether it's country or rap, seems so wastefull, an 'expensive convenience'. For the simple convenience of not having to listen to a song beyond the time it takes to pigeon hole it, a lot of great artists and their work are never considered simply because they choose to express themselves in a certain style. It's like writing off all Impressionist work because your first few exposures to Impressionist paintings weren't to your preference. And to put bluntly: Come on, hasn't rap been around long enough that we can put the whole blanket dismissal of it on the shelf. Let's focus our disdain where it's needed. I mean Ashlee Simpson is still making records! |
| matt832 (Flushing, Michigan) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 22:59 Bumped from 2 to 4. What can I say, it grew on me. |
| x3n0b07 (Chico, CA) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 22:59 I generally have utter disdain for rap, but this piece was more intelligent and melodic than most I've heard. A fine chorus too. Rated 4- acceptable. I don't want to hear rap on RP but if this comes on a couple times a week I'm A-OK with that. |
| Mari (www.broomecam.com) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 22:54 ... L_ove this! ... ... |
| Geecheeboy (under a crescent moon and palmetto tree) | Posted: May 16, 2006 - 22:53 I salute you. Funny. Crap - Rap. Time for the 3 minute Mute button. |

Add to that a beat made up of electronic drumbeats somebody put together on a computer. Requires no musical ability whatsoever, therefore, it is not music. The only part of your statement that I can't chalk up to taste is "a beat made up of electronic drumbeats somebody put together on a computer. Requires no musical ability whatsoever, therefore, it is not music." Wow, man. Wow. I didn't know that music is defined by the ability of it's creator. Seems rather incongruent with Webster. I guess creating an ordered set of beats isn't rhythmic ability. I guess you have to play a drumset for it to count as musical ability. I guess that rules out disabled folks from having musical ability. |
| Austin (Memphis, TN) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 13:50 I thought it was great I really like the chorus :) |
| Garlique (Morgan Hill, CA) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 10:16 Thought this was way cool. Not a big fan of the genre, but this was quite listenable. Intelligent rap, excellent vocal breaks, nice beat. What's not to like? Unless you have an "all rap music sucks" mindset, of course. Oh well, musical taste is all opinion, anyway. |
| WhiteWater (here, right here.) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 09:56 Been listening to RP for a week now. I finally registered today, just so I could rate this one a 1. :puke: |

Who cares how it's created; that's the reason music falls into the "arts" category! Some might argue that Picasso didn't have any artistic ability either. |

| freeone1 (few want to be here...) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 09:30 Can't make up my mind just yet.... Really like Holly's voice, but can't figure out where i've heard it before? Anyone.... But really dislike most types of rap/hip-hop music and I think that too many parts of this song fall into that genre... |
| dreadpixie | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 09:30 The lyrics for this song ring true for those of us who's spouses work too hard, neglecting us. |

| matt832 (Flushing, Michigan) | Posted: May 02, 2006 - 09:29 Uh, it's OK (a 2), I guess for pseudo rap. I hope I NEVER hear real rap here, the first time I do I'm outta here. Edit: WHO rates this a 10! |
