The fact that Radio Paradise isn't broadcasted on FM is a compliment in itself, so don't mind that moron-colleague of yours...
About the song, also hearing a lot of Pink Floyd in there, but that's not a bad thing at all!

The lyrics remind me of that favourite old ditty "The Good Ship Venus", the words to which I used to know off by heart and which are way too 'adult' for a family-friendly radio station ;)

This album is one of my favorites for road trips. This song always makes me wonder what the video is like. Seems like it would be an epic saga. Similar to Don't Come Around Here No More" or "Runnin' Down A Dream". Anyone seen a video for this one? {#Cowboy}

I'll say it again...

TP is an American Hero.  His music is simple, beautifully melodic, and absolutely reverant to the greatest lessons taught by all of the best teachers.

This album is really, really relaxing and enjoyable to listen to.

Hmm.... Pink Floyd?

Tom's been listening to the production values or the song structures?

I kinda like Tom Petty.

A bit bad boy, cocky, a bit psychedelic, a bit counter-culture, slightly cranked up contemporary American folk music, simple, good song structures, nice melodies.

Tom sings better than Dylan or Cohen though I suppose that's not saying much.

Ok, to begin with, he can't sing. But then again neither can Dylan.

Then there's the sound ... listen to King of the Hill by Roger McGuinn and you'll hear every lick Petty has.

Then there's the tunes. This one (a cumulative 6.1 from the august RP listeners) is exceptionally sucky. Then there's stuff like Mary Jane's Last Dance, which is a really highly rated track here but sounds to me like a below average bar band on a bad night.

Just sayin ...

Like every other Petty song except slow. The words are clear at least which is not true of Petty songs at normal pace. He has got the Dylan disease.

He gets played because so many people at RP like him and his work. Including, I assume, Bill himself.

This strikes me as between "Pretty Good" and "Quite Likeable". I gave it a 7 instead of 6 since I respect Mr. Petty's body of work 'or the years. (keep him coming by the way)
