He just walked in off the street and my friend and I had to take a double take to be sure it was who we thought it was. We walked up and told him that we were fans of his music and he thanked us.

Then, he preceded to join the local blues band that was playing on the small stage.  Of course, one of the songs he played was "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain," and I was amazed by our luck to be in this small bar at the right time.

In the small crowd around the stage, there was a guy that I overheard telling his friend, "Check out all these hot girls around us!"  I was like, 'Excuse me, but that is "the" Willie Nelson playing up there!'

I mirror your comments esp. the reference to all things twangy (although I adore much acoustic) but I agree this is simply perfection.

as a 15 yr old, after school, I worked at the Bourbon Barrel fixing all the broken chairs from that weekend's brawls, and this sweet song would play on the juke box. Sitting in the back room with Elmer's and duct-tape, being introduced to Waylon and Willie, and Dolly Parton (Jolene!), Elvis, and a whole slew of 70's noise for the over 50's crowd … and still this simple song made a lasting impression

Absolutely true.  It's difficult to hear just one song from this album, the whole is so much larger than the sum of the parts.  It is the musical version of an epic.
