I'm with you on that one. It's like a poem written for a high school assignment.

Sounds a lot like Belle & Sebastian's Piazza, New York Catcher...

Very touching.  More than once it's brought a tear to my eye.  Anyone who's been, or is, in love, will know what I mean.

From a casual reading, I'm getting an image of a spouse sitting by the bedside of their dying partner.

I think it was primarily composed by Neil Innes, or at least co-written.

Nice song. It's even better when it isn't played on the heels of Mumford & Sons' "Timeshel" and Dolores O'Riordan's "Black Widow". This set blows.

Major to minor during "I'll follow you into the dark"...brilliantly done. Very pleasing. Pluralizing 'No'...by saying "Nos" sounds funny to me...but hey...no rules in lyric writing, right? Great tune.

I know it's repetitive, and I smile when I mishear the line "illuminate the nose"... But it's simple, sweet and haunting, and I'm inordinately fond of it.

A friend of mine ended up in an impromptu acapella (using that term loosely) jam in a university basement hallway with the aforementioned Mr. McFerrin back in the day and from all accounts, the guy could definitely put a dent in Global Warming.

I agree, it's a difficult song to listen to - very emotional.  It reminds me a lot of Wilco's "On & On & On."
