I couldn't understand the lyrics, so I read them. I still can't understand them. Possibly too much MMJ was smoked before writing this one?

 I have this whole theory that the right amount of weed needs to be smoked for good music. Too little, and it's boring. Too much, and you get, well, this. Or most Grateful Dead songs.

The good news is that the guitarist can still play even when zooted out of his mind.  {#Cheesygrin}

I agree with your assessment.

Yeah... songs with good beginnings and great endings are just so damn lousy.  Especially when that middle 5 seconds just doesn't cut it.

Duh, glad this will be over, whiny and thin vocals. It's only good at the beginning and has a great ending with a thumping bass.

Lovely Jefferson Airplane-ey bass guitar.  Closely followed in rotation today with Somebody To Love (Live).  Nice touch.

I can never play this loud enough here at work to hear the bass.  But based on your comparison of the bass work to Jack Casady, I am going to raise my rating of this song a couple of points.

Hey Mr Edge, listen to what a difference a bass makes to a track.
