![]() Waiting for Columbus (1978) [ larger cover art ] |
Is it the lies?
Is it the style?
It's a mercenary territory
I wish you knew the story
I've been out here so long dreamin up songs
I'm temporarily qualmless and sinking
I've did my time in that rodeo
It's been so long and I've got nothing to show
Well I'm so plain loco
Fool that I am I'd do it all over again
Is it the style?
Is it the lies?
Is it the days into nights
Or the "I'm sorry"s into fights
Now some kind of man, he can't do anything wrong
If I see him I'll tell him you're waiting
'Cause I'm devoted for sure but my days are a blur
Well your nights turn into my mornings
Well I did my time in that rodeo
Fool that I am I'd do it all over again
Is it love keeps you waiting so long
Makes you say I'll see you around
The forces that be, they just don't see
While your nights turn into my mornings
Is it the style?
Is it the lies?
Is it the days into nights
Or the "I'm sorrys" into fights

| toterola (Further) | Posted: Apr 21, 2012 - 21:29 In my Top 5 live albums ever. Here's my list, in no particular order: One More From The Road- Lynyrd Skynyrd Waiting For Columbus- Little Feat Live At Leeds- The Who Get Yer Ya-Yas Out- The Stones One For The Road- The Kinks Also, I would say that the version of The Feat that is still touring is worth seeing. They can rock it with the best. But back in the day, with Lowell George? When they were good, there was no better live band on the planet. And that's for reals. ![]() |

| ziakut (Unmoon) | Posted: Feb 18, 2012 - 10:45 THIS band should have gotten the kind of attention and accolades that the Grateful Dead got. They were a much better band of musicians IMHO. This is a great, great live album! Yep. ![]() |

I thought they put out several competent albums in the years following his death. Let It Roll & Representing the Mambo were better than average. Paul Barrere and Bill Payne, in particular, are great musicians. I remember reading a review of Let It Roll in 1988 in a local San Francisco newspaper. The reviewer noted that LF still sounded very good. But he noted that without Lowell George, they no longer sounded dangerous. I now think about that every time i listen to LF. It rings true to me. With Lowell George, they sound like something unpredictable will happen anytime. Without Lowell George, they just sound like a tight bar band. Interesting and notable observation. I love Let It Roll! But point taken. |

(hint: what do tomatos have in common with squash, potatoes, corn, etc...) Also, yes, one of my all time favorite records (then disc, then mp3). But wasn't there talk about the live tracks had studio dubs after the fact? Regardless, doesn't dilute the genius as far as I'm concerned. |

| bam23 (Berkeley) | Posted: Sep 16, 2009 - 14:57 I guess I am not alone in not really liking Little Feat, but this is good. Possibly too much radio overplay of the same tired pieces has the well-known effect of obscuring the good material by any musicians. |
