I won't take all that they hand me down
And make out I smile, though I wear a frown
And I'm not gonna take it all lying down
'Cause once I get started, I go to town
'Cause I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
And I don't want to ball about like everybody else
And I don't want to live my life like everybody else
And I won't say that I feel fine like everybody else
'Cause I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
But darling, you know that I love you true
And do anything that you want me to
Confess all my sins like you want me to
There's one thing that I will say to you
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
And I don't want to ball about like everybody else
And I don't want to live my life like everybody else
And I won't say that I feel fine like everybody else
'Cause I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
Like everybody else
Like everybody else
Like everybody else
Like everybody else
If you all want me to settle down
Slow up and stop all my running 'round
Do everything like you want me to
There's one thing that I will say to you
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
And I don't want to ball about like everybody else
And I don't want to live my life like everybody else
And I won't say that I feel fine like everybody else
'Cause I'm not like everybody else
I'm not like everybody else
Like everybody else (like everybody else)
Like everybody else (like everybody else)
Like everybody else (like everybody else)
Like everybody else

| sirdroseph (Yes) | Posted: Mar 14, 2011 - 10:04 A poor version of an OK song by one of the most overrated bands in history. All this adds up to a 2. |
| dexev | Posted: Jan 10, 2011 - 18:44 Is it like today? |
| Stranglersfan (Revelstoke, B.C.) | Posted: Jan 10, 2011 - 18:44 Great Tune. Camper Van Beethoven does a very respectable version as well. |
| AndyJ (Oregon) | Posted: Nov 08, 2010 - 09:53 SO-much different from their first release.... Teen awareness of being clever and wonderful then are now angry and refusing to compromise based on experience... Very-good... |

Almost literally fighting. That show was pretty awesome. |

| jbunniii (San Jose, CA) | Posted: Aug 22, 2009 - 10:21 Wow, I can't believe this is out of print! The Kinks must be one of the most ill-served bands in history by their various record labels. |

| suddenchad | Posted: Nov 10, 2008 - 17:18 I wish their damn record label would finally rerelease this. It's only available as an expensive, out of print collectors item. Or at least get me this damn song as an MP3. Please! |

| CamLwalk (Albany NY) | Posted: Sep 08, 2008 - 12:32 Wow that little Pretenders>Pretenders>Kinks run was nice. Chrissie & Ray were a couple (had a child together). I remember how sad it was Chrissie's guitarists ODed. I always reckoned that "Something Better" was written by Ray for Chrissie. Big fan of both bands. |
| dboseman | Posted: Sep 08, 2008 - 12:31 What's the deal with the licensing on this song? I cannot legally buy the download on itunes or anywhere else. |
| Hannio (Austin, TX) | Posted: Sep 08, 2008 - 12:30 Sounds sincere enough, but come on. You're really not like everybody else? I don't believe it. |
| Thistle (Peg City) | Posted: Sep 08, 2008 - 12:26 Great song! I prefer the original — but this has the years of wear and tear and the road behind it... |

| n4ku (KY) | Posted: Mar 03, 2008 - 08:05 When this first started playing, I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not. I thought it was missing some of the urgency and rawness of the studio version. But I listened to the entire song, and it really grew on me. It's an amazing live performance. Good stuff. 8. |
| redtex (The Third Coast) | Posted: Mar 03, 2008 - 08:05 I'm liking this! IMHO - The coarseness of his voice adds an air of anti-establishment/protest credibility to the song. Sounds less polished and more sincere than the studio version. |

Dave Davies is one of Rock's most underrated guitarists in history. While Ray gets full credit for writing unquestionably great songs, Dave gave the band its signature sound of great hooks and hard charging rock sound. As is apparent here, he could solo with the best of them. |
