Say you to me
You're a bird with an eye for anything shiny
Searching the land
For a hero of a man
You say I need
More than my fair share of attention
But I think you know
That just isn't so
Underneath
I felt the fire of a burning question
Tearing me apart
Right from the very start
And now I see
That it don't take a trick of the light to excite me
So strong, so long
You'll see
Hold on
To what you
Been given lately
Hold on
To what you
Know you got
Hold on
To what you
Been given lately
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not
Simplicity
A heart of gold, an old head, and young shoulders
Quiet and lovely
Becoming part of me
And now I see
From a handful of names and a thousand faces
One light, burning, furiously
I was tired of January
I was tired of June
I felt a change a-coming
Oh... I was tired of January
Tired of June
I felt a change a-coming, oh
I felt a change a-coming
I felt a change a-coming
Felt a change a-coming soon
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (Been given lately)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Know you got (know you got)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (been given lately)
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (Been given lately)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Know you got (know you got)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (been given lately)
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not
Oh yeah, well the world will turn if you're ready or not
Oh, yes the world will turn if you're ready or not
| christopherwoods (West Midlands, United Kingdom) | Posted: Jan 23, 2013 - 07:08 Nice to hear this again on RP. Saves me having to go grab my CD and play it for the third time this week. ... OH, WHO AM I KIDDING. It's hardly ever out of the CD player! (For the uninitiated, go listen to her latest album Tiger Suit and her completely acoustic Scarlet Tulip EP, they're rather good indeed.) |

She had a device that enabled her to set a beat, do a looping vocal as backup, and sing along to herself. It was really neat. She performed "Hold On," but with a slower, more relaxed beat which, in my opinion, added a lot to the song. And, she's intelligent and hysterically funny. So "Meh" is far too dismissive. Couldn't you have written something a little more erudite, such as, "I find her music dreadfully boring and unimaginative, and I'd rather be jamming red-hot pokers into my eyes"? Just sayin'..... Saw KT live in a small club in NYC recently with just herself, guitars and her looping device — first show trying out some songs from her next record. She is is terrific showperson - engaging, funny as hell, good songwriter, player and excellent vocalist. My wife and I will definitely be buying anything new she puts out and seeing her again anytime she comes to town. |

Getting rid of pictures of Katherine McPhee is not something I'm big on... quite the opposite in fact. Maybe her and KT can do a shoot together |

If you do a cover like that it needs to be so bad that it is an obvious pastiche of glam rock or whatever - this isn't, it is just plain bad. I am surprised that so much discussion has transpired related to this album cover. To me it's very clear that it's an attempt to be playful and is basically a joke. She looks pretty cute in it, honestly. I like the boots. |

Think it's trying to be a clever play i.e. she is getting a big commercial following, especially in the UK... this plays to them and if you want to dig deeper you could believe it was ironic... either way I agree it sucks. |
