So let's talk about Interpol. Much of their music sounds so similar. And yet, 'The Heinrich Maneuver' just might be a song you listen to in 10 or 20 years. It's that good. Now that is a laughable remark given the stick-titude of classical music and bop, but I'll stick to it.

This band continues to get more popular. Unfortunately, this translates into music that is more mainstream and therefore, easier for the masses to digest. That said, it is less palatable to its "original" audience. Kinda reminds me of Our Lady Peace. They used to be a great band, full of energy with their first album "Naveed". Then they became popular, and now I can't even listen to them.

I hope Interpol doesn't follow this game plan. They will make a lot of money and that's important but musical integrity has merit too. It's not always financial though.

Some bands do migrate toward the mainstream. And I'm sure you're right about Interpol doing that, but maybe the mainstream is migrating toward the band... Sure, if they're in a rut maybe they need to move on but you can't blame them for exploring their signature sound one more time.

Or Joy Division's signature sound. Whatever.

This song sounds way different then what I'm used to hearing on FM... another headphones vs. car stereo/broadcast issue, or is this some different mix?
