It sounds like berimbau: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berimbau

Love it.  Easy groove, punctuated with what, a ukelele?  Whatever stringed instrument it is, nice soulful strum.  First listen and I love it.

I was thinking it reminded me of Bebel Gilberto reworked by Thievery Corp, or....?  {#Stupid}

This is the first I've heard it!  I think I like it, will have to give it a couple more listen-to's.  Starting with a 7.

I'd rate this a 7 or 8 if it didn't have those sampled "rap style" music noises mixed in.

You have some DJ Shadow too?

I know it is asking too much, but how about some Jurassic 5?  For those of yall who dont ' get it' this is a DJ, and do not compare a DJ to an artist who plays instruments, because they are not.  Instead think of them as the producers.  They are visionaries that see how much will sound wonderful mixed together.  Much respect to people who can do this well.

I am uploading a Jurassic 5 tune as we speak. Won't make it through the filter to the LRC though.

Do not compare a DJ to an artist who plays instruments, because they don't play instruments (some might play the instruments they are recording, but then they would be the artist too).  Instead think of them as the producers.  They are visionaries that see how different sounds will sound wonderful mixed together.  Much respect to people who can do this well.

WTF? This track has the most annoying beginning in the history of time. I thought my speakers were broken. Thankfully it segues into something tolerable with the female voice ... then back to the broken ukelele. Final verdict: 2.

"Hip-Hop" crossover. It's called "scratching". I'm not totally against HH/Rap influence in recent music, but I just think these folks aren't doing it well.
