Ha! When this came on I had to check right away to see if it was King Bob. Obviously a few others had the same thought.  I love the Queen's version!

True enough, but this unholy amalgam brewed for the tourist trade isn't it. Some original Little Nathan or Zachary Richard, however, would provide a more accurate ear exam for zydeco tolerance.

Update - the impact of the horrific oil spill is less than originally thought, and ecological recovery is (for the most part) occurring faster than projected. Didn't have to be that way. A real miracle and lesson there.

The moratorium on drilling, however (both actual and defacto through permitting), is currently wrecking communities, families and all of the support industries including agricultural and fishing that are intertwined in a fifty year relationship in South Louisiana. A case of experts from afar with no knowledge coming in and assuming people are too dumb to help themselves or understand their own community. Imposing kneejerk theory on their proven practice. Decreases national security, increases the transfer of US wealth to the Middle East. A second disaster, manmade as well.

The music moved all over after Katrina, but is slowly heading home. Come down to Acadiana and see for yourself. Lafayette is a good town to start with. You will have a great time, meet some wonderful people, eat incredible food and get the first hand scoop on the complicated issues surrounding oil, fisheries, estuary preservation and the future of an area very different from the tourist traps of the French Quarter.

C'est si bon, mon cher! Venir ici et passez un bon temp!

Hearing this song just makes me feel sick about what's happening in the gulf right now and the impact it will likely have on the area.  Thanks for playing this — it made the whole situation suddenly very "real" for me.  The power of music ...

Sometimes the real stuff is a bit hard on the ears. Love the cajun accordion on this, but I could do without yer woman's voice. Sacrilege I know, but I'll take Karen Carpenter's version :)

Cool.  The song's not dead!!  I used to hear the old versions of this from the 50s when my step dad DJ'ed at an oldies station.  Nice beat.  You can sure hear this as the origin of James McMurtry's Choctaw Bingo.
