Gets my vote for the Political Song Hall of Fame

And the politics of this particular song certainly resonate with me!

Stevie Wonder doesn't share your warped political views, as he voted for Obama.

It was Nixon who invoked the Southern Strategy of using race baiting to win an election.
No one who was living at the time could forget the racism that the Republicans used to win office.
It was sickening then, and it's sickening now when Gingrich calls Spanish "the language of the ghetto",
or when Ron Paul tells people that he would repeal the Civil Rights Act.

So, yes, I agee with Stevie Wonder then as I do now.
Republicans, we're "sick and tired of hearing your song" when you "haven't done nothin" to combat racism and inequality.
Painting Obama with your racist brush only proves the point.

Too true, reindeer.
Hard to believe there are still people in the world that would prefer a stooge like Bush to Obama.

Prescient, way way ahead of his (its) time in societal messaging and fusing musical styles,

thank you very much DJ for the nostalgic reflection on present. ;)

This song was so subversive back in the day.  Criticizing the president (Nixon that is) in a pop song.  Imagine that!

Ah, memories. I used to play this a lot as a DJ in the early 70s in Souf London. I found it interesting that there were a lot of people who just did not 'get it'. . . specially a few years later when everybody had gone punk.

I didn't care. . . I kept it high on my playlist because it was a piece of brilliance. 30 odd years later and it still hits all the right spots for me. . . but I don't DJ any more. . . just in my head and living room.
