<3 music has that amazing way to bring back the past, but never as fresh as we'd like the memory to be.

This made me feel very weird, sad, I think. It's the same weather today as it was a couple of years back, while I was still at university, when I took my mom to sightsee the campus and the city it was in. She wanted to see it so much, and she still does, even though it's been 3 years since I graduated.
Hearing this song in this weather made me realize the fact that I can't go to that past anymore, nor can I relive it. Perhaps I won't even be allowed in the campus grounds because I'm no longer a student, but I can at least take her to the city.

Last time this was on RP I bought the CD. This may be my favorite tune from the whole album. It's quite different from the rest. Love good electric string instruments.

Without the piano, it would sound remarkably similar to a Romanian "doină" — which also expresses feelings of longing. It can make you weep even if you don't have anyone to miss...

This is not morbid at all. In fact, this is a tremendous post and an idea I will borrow for my passage as well. When my mother-in-law passed, the hospital had a harpist summoned who played through her last breath and kept playing for some time after. We like to think that it helped her, but we know that it helped us. Thanks for sharing this idea.

I'm metastatic and one of the things I amuse myself with at work is creating a soundtrack to my death.  When my mom was in hospice, no one told us the signs of impending death and instead of hearing calm, she heard us freaking out.  I'm thinking that her last thought was that my sister and I had to stop being such ninnies - that being a favorite comment made to us and especially to me.

This song is on the top of my list.  I don't want sad b/c I when the time comes, I don't want to delay my passage by thinking about sad things - I want music that feels calm and 'pretty' and which might be reassuring to my husband, sister and cousin.
