Fools on parade
Cavort and carry on for waiting eyes
That you would rather be beside than in front of
But she's never been the kind to be hollowed by the stares
She swam out of tonight's phantasm
Grabbed my hand and made it very clear
There's absolutely nothing for us here
It's a magnolia celebration
To be attended on a Wednesday night
It's better than to get a reputation
As a miserable little tyke
At least that's the conclusion
She came to in this overture
And the secret door swings behind us
She's saying nothing
She's just giggling along
Her arms were folded most indignant
Not looking like she was soon to leave
I had to squint in order to believe
And then like a butler pushing on a bookshelf
And unveiling the unexpected
I who was earlier reluctant
Was suddenly embarrassed and corrected
How could such a creature
Survive in such a habitat?
And the secret door swings behind us
She's saying nothing
She's just giggling along
And even if they were to find us
I wouldn't notice
I'm completely occupied
As all the fools on parade
Cavort and carry on for waiting eyes
That you would rather be beside than in front of
But she's never been the kind to be hollowed by the stares
Fools on parade
Frolic and fuck about to make a gaze
Turn to a scribble on a page by a picture
That holds her absence but you're daft to think she'd care
Fools on parade
Fools on parade
Fools on parade conduct a sing-along
| GuiltyFeat (Ra'anana) | Posted: Feb 16, 2011 - 02:46 Ooh, they're good, aren't they. |
| spigolli (Peachtree City, GA, USA) | Posted: Jul 09, 2010 - 08:01 I like it twice as much as the first go-round 2->4 |
| wafflecrotch (Philadelphia, PA) | Posted: May 06, 2010 - 18:06 This band has really changed their sound. I have to say I love both "eras" of them, though not in one listening. |
| FluorideFreeMN (Central Minnesota) | Posted: Mar 27, 2010 - 18:36 I liked this band's earlier work. Much more creative. This is just ho-hum (as is said below many times)! |
| crockydile (Outer Spiral Arm, Milky Way) | Posted: Mar 18, 2010 - 10:34 Tedious. |
| Felix_The_Cat (Buenos Aires, Argentina) | Posted: Feb 22, 2010 - 12:49 I like those drums..they have their power.. |
| gumbo73039 (Devon, England) | Posted: Feb 17, 2010 - 05:27 I really enjoyed their early output, but this seems to drift, bit sort of like nowhere-ish? Maybe? One for the nay-Pod |
| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: Jan 19, 2010 - 22:32 What happened to the arctic's? 2 Great albums without a bad track between them and then they go all sad and limp with this latest offering. Bah humbug i say. |
| helgigermany (Germany) | Posted: Jan 19, 2010 - 22:31 Nice!! |

| fredriley (Nottingham, UK) | Posted: Dec 16, 2009 - 09:50 The songs I've heard from this CD on RP show the AMs going in an experimental neo-psychedelic direction, which I'm not sure is good or not, though it's certainly interesting. Nice to see that Sheffield's finest are still at it, though, and still singing about local life in tyke accents. |
| toomanyollys (cruz del rey, london) | Posted: Dec 15, 2009 - 06:56 OK, who just voted this a 7? The quality of the silence was barely a 5 imho... |
| sub-arctic (63°50' N) | Posted: Dec 15, 2009 - 06:55 Phew, I thought for a while I had lost my RP connection! |
| okobojicat (Dreaming of the Moravian Highlands) | Posted: Dec 15, 2009 - 06:54 Dead Air as well for me. |
| newwavegurly | Posted: Dec 15, 2009 - 06:52 Right now, all I'm getting is dead air for this one... |
