They were together,They weren't together....that aside the music is simply beautiful that tickling of the ivories, put in there sparsely, genious. Has the feel of Van Morrison musically...imho   9

It is a good song - yes it is!

But I do not like it anyway!

A band by the name "The Swell Season" is unlikable to me,

as you will most likely agree with!

Regardless of the negativity posted below, they make GOOD music together and that's what's important.  An 8 from me.

A lifelong friend of mine had seen "The Swell Season" perform live several times and told me they were great live.  I had seen Glen Hansard and Marketa in "Once" and loved the film and their music. He flew here to the SF Bay Area and took me to see them at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA , one of the most beautiful concert venues in the world, in August 2010. We were sitting in the 10th row center and I was enraptured in their music when that guy jumped off the backdrop to the stage and landed near Glen. Talk about being instantly transported from heaven to hell. Hearing "Low Rising" just now on RP was the first time I have been able to enjoy hearing The Swell Season since that night. I recently watched "The Commitments", the wonderful Irish film based on American soul music, for the first time in ages and was pleasantly surprised to see Glen Hansard was one of the members in the band. BTW, Glen Hansard is Irish and busked on the streets of Dublin for years, so the Van Morrison comparisons are understandable.

I try to avoid lyrics sites as most of them are loaded with malware or at least a bunch of annoying ads/pop-ups.  I can't believe they're asking for cell phone numbers now.... Anyway, I found these at lyrics.com which apparently doesn't let you select any text to copy/paste.  I don't know how common that is, but you can just copy them out of the page source (Ctrl-U in Firefox).  Not sure how correct these are but here you go!

I wanna pull back the veils
And find out what it is I've done wrong
I wanna tear these curtains down
I want you to meet me somewhere
Tonight in this old tourist town
And we'll go

Low rising
'Cause we've gotta come up
We've gotta come up
Low rising
'Cause there's no further for us to fall
Low rising
'Cause I fear we've had enough
Low rising

Oh, for the love of you

I wanna take you to the rock
I wanna jump right in
And see what that big ocean's got
I wanna turn this thing around
I wanna drink with you
All night, till we both fall down
Till we go

Low rising
'Cause we've gotta come up
We've gotta come up
Low rising
'Cause there's no further for us to fall
Low rising
And I fear we've had enough
Low rising

Oh, for the love of you

Low rising
'Cause we've gotta come up
We've gotta come up
Low rising
Til I fear we've had enough
Low rising
'Cause there's no further for us to fall

Low Rising
Oh, for the love of you

For the love of you
Low rising, low rising
I wanna sit you down and talk
I wanna sit you down and talk about it now

Still haven't heard anything else from this band but have heard this on RP several times and am loving it!  Definitely has that "warm fuzzy" Van Morrison feel to it.  I also looove the guitar solo in this song!  It's fairly simple but fits the mood so well.  I definitely need to check out more of this band, and I guess The Frames as well!

Just what I thought, it's a good tune and a he's good singer but too much of a Van ripoff.
