We're bound to wait all night,
She's bound to run amok,
Invested enough in it anyhow,
To each his own...
The garden needs sorting out,
She curled her lips on a bough,
And I don't know if you're dead or not,
If you're anyone...
Come on and get the minimum,
Before you open up your eyes,
This army has so many heads,
To analyze...
Come on and get your overdose,
Collect it at the borderline,
They want to get up in your head,
Cause they know and so do I,
The high road is hard to find,
A detour to your new life,
Tell all of your friends goodbye,
The dawn to end all nights,
That's all you hoped it was,
A break from the warfare in your house,
To each his own...
The soldier is bailing out,
He curled his lips on a barrel,
And I don't know if the dead can talk,
To anyone...
Come on and get the minimum,
Before you open up your eyes,
This army has so many heads,
Are you one of us?
Come on and get your overdose,
Collect it at the borderline,
They want to get up in your head,
Cause they know, and so do I,
The high road is hard to find,
A detour to your new life,
Tell all of your friends goodbye,
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...

| bev (Reno, NV) | Posted: Jan 06, 2012 - 13:28 This is one of those songs that grabbed me in a very visceral way from the very start. I was working as an intern in an office that had background tunes playing all the time throughout the shared spaces. Every now and then this song would waft my way and I'd stop and TRY to hear some of the lyrics so I could look it up later to find out who the band was! Frustrating...since I could never just stand around and not look busy for enough time to hear anything clearly. Finally one day I heard it and the radio station identified it! Bought it on iTunes when I got home that day. Great song! |
| ZiegZeon (Tulsa, OK) | Posted: Dec 21, 2011 - 11:30 Really digging the eclectic instrumentation. |

(works firewall). Believe me, I would be listening to WUSC if I could and there would be no whacking my head against the wall I assure you. Not very curious after all. |

While I like this song and album and dig the stylistic departure for Mercer, I think Shins music is much more interesting unique. I hope they put out another album. Agree 100% – this album is interesting and pleasant, but doesn't replace the Shins in any way. I hope he releases more music in the Shins vein. |

On a couple long road trips recently, I've listened to SirusXM "The Spectrum" channel, which is their closest program to RP. I could count on hearing this at least twice a day! (And everything else, too—their playlist is much smaller and less diverse than RP's, but much overlap.) |
